Judith Green outlines the difficulties in putting on this meeting in the face of extreme transactivism. Some of the details are really quite disgraceful, from fake ticket purchases to ringing the venue.

I attended the meeting in my own and was terrified during my journey to the venue (and leaving it)

Were there protesters outside - why were you terrified? I'm going to a similar meeting on my own, and I'm a bit worried.

Ttbb I like the concept of pc double think!! I've been having this debate with a friend who did a gender study masters at SOAS. She says that "women" is not a universal category. I asked for some examples but she's not got back to me funny enough!!

I thought intelligence squared were due to have a gender identity debate recently but can't find any mention of it on their website. Does anyone know if it was shut down?

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 29/11/2017 20:31

No there weren’t Itsallgoingtobefine - but I was very worried that there would be. They had put security on the door though and kept the location a secret until the last minute.

I completely understand your concerns, it might be worth asking the organisers what security measures they are putting in place. Can you try to meet up with some other attendees beforehand? Please do attend though - otherwise the silencing of gender critical feminists will just continue.

There's a pile of MNers maybe meeting up, but I think that might be more scary Blush

Please do attend though - otherwise the silencing of gender critical feminists will just continue

I will definitely go Smile

I’d really like to go to a talk, I’ve signed up to that newsletter but can anyone point me in the direction of where I might hear about others please? I’m Northern and what is politely described as stocky Grin perhaps I can stand on the outside for protection

Since the Speaker's Corner assault, venues have been more proactive in anticipating and getting one step ahead of the TRAs. Huge amounts of time taken fielding fake emails applications for tickets trying to ensure empty seats etc.

That women wanting to meet and talk to each other is considered 'radical' in 2017!

whitehandledkitchenknife · 29/11/2017 21:11

I too went on my own and I will freely admit to worrying about how I was going to get back to my car safely afterwards. I also spent a fair while before the meeting opened 'casing the joint'.
How shocking is this, that we cannot meet openly to discuss issues that affect us as women?
I'm wondering how far away the tipping point is, where we go from being nervous and scared to full on amazon fury. In my head I'm roaring with rage. In public I'm scurrying around keeping my head down.

Oh oh oh, where's this Glasgow meeting? Or where can I find out about it? Will someone please pm me? I'd love to go.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/11/2017 23:21

Where would I find out if there are any talks near me?

redshoeblueshoe · 29/11/2017 23:33

And me ?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/11/2017 23:35

It looks like there is one in Dublin

I find out about in on Twitter, and then posted it on here - I'm sure people will post up as they find out about them.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/11/2017 23:40

I hope so I'm a bit far for those talks but happy to Verify my authenticity as best I can if any one hears if any in the south east England and fancies posting or Pm'ing when they find out
