I've just been sharing that on social. Although I only noticed it because Trans Media Watch tweeted it first.

It's a shame the piece is not a bit longer, it seems to be written purely to incite rage, rather than create debate.

Yes it’s rather short. Would have been better to be longer and more clearly reasoned. I was going to share but have decided it’s a bit too strong. Wish I could share some of the posts from here which are more sensitively worded and more like to get people to see all the different issues

Don't underestimate the protection that imparts.

It's a superficially appealing article but blunders into a trap.

The trans umbrella covers different groups. They include transsexuals, the gender non-conforming, confused young people, and fetishists.

This article doesn't make clear what it's attacking and just is a broadside against a way of thinking. It will be easy to dismiss as being mean and attacking vulnerable people. It will simply polarise existing views.

Also being discussed in another thread - nauticant I thought the same as you, the tone was reactionary I thought.

And as a parent of a trans-identifying daughter (FtM), she is not a fetishist nor has anything to be ashamed about - she is a vulnerable young adult who is a victim of the cult.

I think in this instance he is using the word fetish in the sense of something that is worshipped rather than something sexual.

I read it as that the un-wavering and un-questioning support from people who consider themselves liberals is like a fetish rather than that being trans, or rather genderdismorphic, is a fetish.
