This quote from Maggie Mellon, former vice-chair of the British Association of Social Workers stood out, when almost everyone is scared to speak:
“Doctors used to ‘treat’ homosexuality causing horrendous physical and mental problems,” she said. “Are we not making the same mistake by medicalising children who fight against being doomed to feel and act in accord with stereotypes? It worries me and I’m against the medicalising of very young children. Politicians seem to have accepted this as a way forward, without a great deal of thought.”
