It’s funny, I was trying to explain to DD (the context was gloomy Britpop) that the nineties felt much more optimistic than now. I don’t think I could have ever imagined some of the things in the last twenty years.

I started reading the thread by Jenny (if that is the one) but not all of it. Sounds like it went downhill. Is there another one by someone called Paige? (Because we woman need educating, or why?)

Jenny giggled at the silliness of the cotton ceiling, and quite rightly was told that wasn't exactly a serious response.

Later a transwoman from NZ called Paige popped on the thread to spout some very dodgy science about brains being bathed in hormones in the womb and didn't return after many posters pointed out this was highly unlikely to be the case.

She also transplained on her arrival that use of words like cis didn't matter to her and if it bothered anyone else then it proved they weren't able to handle a grown-up conversation.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

When I started reading about trans stuff on MN, it seemed confined to the feminism boards, with the rest of MN very supportive of gender fluidity etc.

Lately threads in AIBU and Chat seem much more like the majority of women responding to threads are finding issues with the trans ideology.

Aside from the complete disregard for scientific fact, women’s feelings seem to be completely dismissed - which is odd for a movement built in part on people who ‘feel’ like a woman.

Unrelated to feminism - is it me, or have there been a lot of fires in big places in the last 3 months? Nottingham station today, Bristol uni, London Zoo, Woburn Safari Park, Staples Corner warehouses (and for that, I live nearish and it was the second one in a few months).
