My friend's parents told me about this magnificent group a little while ago. What a fantastic bunch of women. A group of feminist activists in India formed to combat domestic violence. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulabi_Gang

This is what they did when a cocktail bar sold a cocktail called "the rapist":

Feminists in India are just wonderful and inspiring.

They are in the trenches of sexism.

Shouldn't have hit the poor barman though. Not his fault.

What nonsense.

What on Earth do you know about it? The bartender who was defending the drink and mocking the women? Unbelievable how desperate some are to attack women who stand up against misogyny.

At risk of outing myself if anyone knows me in real life but I have a relative in India who helps run a women's refuge

She has been physically attacked a few times by very very angry husbands. She knows it's not safe for her to keep doing it but shes going to keep doing it.

My best friend's parents are from India and know feminists there, it's a big country of course but they do a lot of work against rape culture. Her mum volunteers for a WOC feminist group in London.

Hardly vandalised! It looks like they ripped out the menus with the offensive drink on it and knocked a few glasses over without smashing them. I'd say that was quite polite.

NoLoveofMine · 14/10/2017 02:23

They put the misogynists in their place.

Yes, I found it quite impressive actually. The determination not to accept something they correctly saw as unacceptable.

NoLoveofMine · 14/10/2017 02:28

Indeed. So many wonderful feminists in India. The movements are quite remarkable and their action incredible. I'd not profess to be any kind of expert but am kept well informed!
