I'm so please to see this article. It makes a change from the happy hooker line trotted out frequently (and which can't possibly be the norm). It seems obvious to me that decriminalising prostitution leaves the door open for women being harmed more as prostitution is further commercialised - seen here in the nauseating 'all inclusive deal' or in Germany's mega brothels - the thought of which just about knocks me sick.
I'm sure a lot of people on here have already come across them but just in case you haven't and want to read www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/02/if-you-think-decriminalisation-will-make-prostitution-safe-look-germanys-mega

Decriminalisation just allows pimps and brothel owners to make girls into commodities to a greater extent than they are now. They end up with even less autonomy over how and what they sell and become almost part of a fast food version of prostitution and they will be undercut by chains who offer girls at cheaper rates. Decriminalisation is a horror show in my opinion. But as someone said above, no doubt the influx of people 'who work in the industry' or who know many girls who work there will come and tell me how wrong I am.
FTR - (for those people in advance) you won't change my mind on this, my views aren't a knee-jerk reaction to anything they are the product of years of reading, speaking to people and careful consideration so don't even bother.
MyFishGeorge thank you for posting the article it was good to read.
