So seems as good a time as any to share this.

Just remembered I had a Playboy pencil case for school when I was about 13, as did many other girls in my year. I didn't fully understand Playboy and it's origins at that age (knew about the magazine but that's about it). Really shocking that such an adult brand was marketed at children. Really inappropriate. Like a form of brainwashing.

I know Delete. Pencil cases, bags, stationery etc. We had no idea of the connotations, just thought it was another brand.

That cartoon reminds me of the incident when the current President of the United States was in his 40s, watched a child go up an escalator and remarked how he would be fucking her in ten years' time. (Well, "dating" I think was the word he used but it's all the same to him).

Just thought I's share the an obit from the New York Times which also summed him up nicely:

Yes I have been astounded at the lack of critical perspectives in the media, regarding his death. Seeing everyone on twitter and facebook fawning over him was disgusting (Kim K - honoured to work with him? Eugh). I hope more truth comes out about his treatment of the women he held in his home and that society sees him for what he was.

cuirderussie · 01/10/2017 17:13

Well here's a fair savaging in the New York Times

I wonder if the author of that article would have so much anger towards Hh if he didn't have an issue with abortion.

I have never been able to understand why grown women would be dressed in rabbit ears and tails.

I did hear someone on the TV say he was all about sexual liberation for men. Sounds about right.

DeleteOrDecay · 01/10/2017 20:47

Yeah the rabbit thing is odd. I do wonder how many of them genuinely enjoyed the playboy lifestyle, the dressing up and being paraded around for everyone to oggle, the sex parties etc and how many of them just got through it with gritted teeth because they felt that was what they had to do at the time.

From what I’ve read it sounds utterly grim. He was nothing more then a glorified pimp. Sick of people saying the women knew what they were signing up for and were happy to take the cash, I really don’t think they did. Not fully anyway.
