ItsAll, I'm travelling from the other end of the country, but I know what you mean.

TeachesOfPeaches · 10/10/2017 08:48

I've booked my ticket for Saturday Grin

Nice one Teachers.

I bought a pack of Pom bears today. Don't know if I will have time to make a broach though.

So glad I found this thread! Am going both days, no small person this time but in 2015 I took my daughter who was 7 and a friend's daughter who was 12/13, was great for the girls. Workshops designed for the kids but some of the main workshops suitable for older girls, and also like a regular crèche not just all the kid chucked in together.

Tickets are still on a sale if anyone wants to come and hasn't got tickets yet...

TeachesOfPeaches · 11/10/2017 22:17

Lovely I raise your Pom bears and I be casually sipping from a penis beaker

TalkingintheDark · 11/10/2017 22:20

Where did the info that today is the last day for booking tickets come from? I can't see that anywhere on the website.

I'd like to go on Sunday but am not 100% sure I'll be able to make it yet, so would rather leave it another day or two - will I still be able to book tickets then, does anyone know?

LauraMipsum · 11/10/2017 23:32

wrappedupinmyselflikeaspool · 13/10/2017 09:08

I am going to Feminism In London! I might actually meet some of you in real life, how amazing!! I'm going on the Saturday because I need to see a friend who is nominated for the Emma Humphries Memorial Prize. I'll arrive mid morning so only doing two sessions. Femicide and Misoginy and racism, and the EH prize at the end obviously.
See you there.
I will bring Pom Bears. I am the tired looking woman with witchy hair, though I might actually do my hair if I am going out, you never know who you might meet. Grin

SerendipityFelix · 14/10/2017 08:36

On the train into town, see you all soon sisters Grin

TalkingintheDark · 14/10/2017 10:43

Any news from today? How did it go? Am looking forward to meeting MNers tomorrow, think I'm doing some of the same workshops as a couple of you and hopefully will meet others at lunchtime!

NoLoveofMine · 15/10/2017 01:34

Wish I had been there. My parents won't let me go because it's my dad's birthday tomorrow FFS!!!!!! Male oppressor. Wish I was going.

ShintyFartMuscle · 15/10/2017 06:10

Sounds amazing, wish I wasn’t half a world away, please post updates, and views/reviews.

I don’t suppose Kate Smurthwaite is a MNer, I knew her way back, I still have the crocodile from the Adrenaline show at Edinburgh, DM me if you are here!!

SerendipityFelix · 15/10/2017 06:48

I bet she is, Shintyfart.

I had a fab time yesterday, I didn’t make the meetup unfortunately as my morning workshop overran slightly and by the time I’d got to pret and back to get a sandwich, and then find CR1 there was just a confused looking crêche worker there asking if I was Hugo’s mum! (I’m noone’s mum, unless you count the menagerie! Hope Hugo’s mum found him).

I feel wonderfully inspired to get more involved in feminist activism though, attend more stuff, keep reading, and keep learning, not ‘just’ feminism but environmentalism, racism, social justice etc. Sometimes it all feels so overwhelming that you think, what’s the point, what can little old me do, I’m just one person. But he answer is, you can’t do everything, but you can do something.

Sister Outrider’s speech at the keynote was particularly thought provoking, on interracial solidarity in the feminist movement, particularly addressing what white women can do. It’s an uncomfortable topic and she did it well, I’m going to start reading her blog and learning more about black feminism. I’ve always felt “that’s not for me”, probably in the same way men think “feminism isn’t for me”, as it’s difficult to think of yourself as the oppressor. Also she included “no is a complete sentence” in her presentation, and I’m sure a few of you here were with me in the audible chuckle that got.

I was also very pleasantly impressed with Sophie Walker’s speech. Impressed enough that I might get my thoughts together and start a new thread on reconsidering WEP later. I’m one of the resigners due to their support of a violent transwoman with a functioning penis being placed in the female prison estate, I was disgusted with them, and their subsequent inability to define a woman without circular reasoning. But yesterday she spoke passionately and eloquently, highlighting many many issues in an unambiguously angry but determined way, albeit the elephant in the room for anyone in the know was the lack of acknowledgement of the gender self-identity debate.

Hope everyone going today has a fab time too!

SerendipityFelix · 15/10/2017 06:50

PS NoLove - you only get one Dad, and he only has so many birthdays. There will be other feminist events, London is full of us! Smile. Hope you’re doing ok.

NoLoveofMine · 15/10/2017 10:29

Thank you Felix and for your excellent write up of yesterday - it sounds wonderful and is great to read of how inspiring it was!

omnishambles · 15/10/2017 10:53

Hi all - I just wanted to pop back to MN to say thanks for the pombears Laura and that it was lovely to meet people yesterday at lunchtime. The 50th anniversary of the abortion act was a great session in the afternoon though I was absolutely enraged by the protesting now increasing outside clinics in the UK. Much to do.
