I noticed in my local Waitrose on Saturday that they had a multipack of Pombears for £1.

BMacklin · 02/10/2017 17:20

There's even a creche!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/10/2017 18:03

So many great sessions to choose from, though!

I know! We'll all have to compare notes afterwards.

LauraMipsum · 02/10/2017 22:11

brasty that's not a bad idea. Saturday or Sunday? (or both?)

OP posts:
brasty · 02/10/2017 22:19

Both. There will be rooms free at lunchtime, and as long as everyone promises to leave in time for the next session, I don't think it would be an issue.

LauraMipsum · 02/10/2017 22:37

Leave it with me. Smile

We have a yes to a MN meet up in one of the rooms - room to be confirmed but it will be one of the ones without art being exhibited over lunch.

Great Grin. Thanks Laura.

SerendipityFelix · 03/10/2017 06:23

Oh cool! I’ve never met anyone in RL before, MN or feministing (have been to feminist events/talks just keep myself to myself) hopefully I’ll be brave enough to come and say hello!

I’m going on Saturday and have booked Political Awakening, Changing Scripts & Women and the Environment sessions.

vaginafetishist · 03/10/2017 14:02

I have booked my tickets for both days, so exciting. I picked Justice for Women, Femicide, build a girl, sex and the citadel, practical woman and lesbian line.
I can't believe there is a conference covering all these fascinating topics. Should definitely be an improvement on Woman of the World which bends over backwards not to upset men.
Just seen there's a MN meet up, it will be lovely to meet some of you. This topic has reawakened my feminism!

Beatrix Campbell

Oh great. Well that's just perfect.

Is she still pushing the satanic ritual abuse stuff? And trying to persuade all-and-sundry that the country is overrun with witches covens?

I was hoping she'd retired, or was perhaps just speaking at David Icke events; they love her. It would be nice if right now, feminism presented some sanity, but I guess we are supposed to be a 'wide church'.

So she has an audience, but regrettably, having a science degree and being a secularist, it won't include me; I can't bear the religious mumbo-jumbo. And I can't easily forgive what she said about Sally Clark, or for the Shieldfield fiasco.

It's still a mystery how she got an OBE, but her efforts to explain it still remains the funniest article The Guardian has ever published (for the CiF comments);

Perhaps I'll be able to attend next year.

brasty · 03/10/2017 18:20

Beatrix Campbell is a great speaker.

LauraMipsum · 05/10/2017 15:26

I think it's almost impossible to coordinate an event of this size without at least one speaker not being someone's favourite person. I think Beatrix Campbell is a great speaker too Brasty

For those who want a meet up at lunchtime can you PM me and I'll let you know what room it is!

Yes I'm going and really excited about it! Especially the art. Did anyone see the Oxford House show last year? X

LovelyFriend · 06/10/2017 13:36

So many great sessions to choose from - it's hard. Everything I saw last time was incredible so I'm going to go for:

Political Awakening
Flaunting Fearlessness
Putting Class back into Feminism

International Activism
Practical Women
Finding a voice.

I want to become more active - this will spur me on.

TeachesOfPeaches · 06/10/2017 13:51

I've just had a look and I'm impressed that it has a crèche as I'm a lone parent and getting to these events can be a nightmare. Is it at the institute of education in Bloomsbury?

LovelyFriend · 06/10/2017 13:56

Yes that is it Teachers - very close to Russell Square tube.

I think the creche is free too - I looked into it for my 2 DC but turns out they are at their Dad's so I can feminist all weekend long (ie go to the evening party as well)

TeachesOfPeaches · 06/10/2017 14:21

I can go on the Saturday. How do you decide which session you want to attend as it doesn't say who the speakers are or what the content is other than the title?

LovelyFriend · 06/10/2017 14:25

If you scroll down below the program schedule there are details on each of the sessions - so much to choose from though!! Good luck.

TeachesOfPeaches · 06/10/2017 14:44

Thanks lovely.

Usernamechecksout · 07/10/2017 11:12
