He's done some questionable things in the past but this is next level.

Urgh. There are few things more unbecoming in professional life than someone who holds grudges, except maybe someone who uses their new job as a newspaper editor to air their grievances.

I am TM's least biggest fan and have quite enjoyed GO's digs at the government but this goes way too far and he should apologise publicly.

Also, I'm sure there are many that have had similar thoughts about Gideon the architect of austerity, but nobody has been crass enough to say so in public.

There really is some fucked-up psychopathology going on with Gideon. Vile, arrogant, sadistic man. He always evokes for me some sort of maniacally evil fanatical priest, I can just imagine him as the big cheese during the Spanish Inquisition. He's dangerous. Bet you a big wad of cash though, that he will eventually want to return to the frontline of British politics, and the Conservatives will welcome him with open arms.

Caitlin Moran did a fabulous article on what a twat GO is before Cameron was even voted in as PM. He's a nasty vindictive posh idiot. Failed as a journalist prior to politics and failing at it again now by the looks of things.

But what's with the calling him Gideon when he has chosen to go by George thing? Gideon is a Jewish name right? Feels uncomfortably like shouting 'Jew!' At him. Which would be awful and racist. We all know if he went by Rob from a full name of Robert, people wouldn't make a point of saying oh Robert is such a twat. Because it wouldn't register as an insult. I can't see how using Gideon instead of George is anything other than a racist low blow. But happy to be corrected on that.

Er, but he's not Jewish.

The 'Gideon' thing is people poking fun at his poshness. Posh little Gideon who poses as an everyman George.

George Osborne was brilliant during the Scottish Independence Referendum - he wiped the floor with Sturgeon and Salmond and their non- thinking on economics for which I could forgive a lot, but this is horrible.

I am sure he wants back into politics.

And I agree about "Gideon" - stop it.

Repulsive creature and though like a pp I have enjoyed some of his glee at TM's tribulations lately, this is emphatically Beyond The Pale. The Gideon thing, though, seems unfair. His parents named him this but he disliked it and chose a different name as a youngster - he hasn't hidden behind it as a PR stunt in an attempt to be down with the people for political reasons.

I have been finding GO's campaign against TM generally entertaining, because who doesn't love people you dislike knifing each other in the back? But this is out of order.

So use the name he uses. I don't see what point posters think they are making by using Gideon beyond making themselves look a bit nasty too.
