Men & feminism chat

From the multiple threads about making the men in your life go all feminist to the weirdos pretending to be women in order to defend porn, prostitution and paedophilia, is there any space on feminism chat for talking about women and feminism?

Is there a Bechdel Test for feminism threads?

DJBaggySmalls · 28/08/2017 18:20

NAMALT.

Only kidding.

enoughisenough12 · 28/08/2017 18:40

Every damned thread I look at there are either men posing as women to defend the indefensible or men posting telling feminists that we're doing feminism wrong, people's views are the reason so many women aren't feminists, we can't be a feminist if we express particular views etc. Mansplaining in the extreme....

Still, I'm sure if we keep listening to them we'll come up with a version of feminism that will suit them.... Wink

MrsDustyBusty · 28/08/2017 18:50

I think we need to look back to the age of Victoria to find a version of feminism that would be suitable.

I think they answer is for us to just skim over those being obviously contrary on threads (men posing as women about 'happy hookers' or suchlike.) But it's just so damn hard to ignore sometimes. It is the only answer though just give them the attention they deserve i.e. none.

hmm137 · 28/08/2017 21:25

Is it entirely possible that the people who hold conflicting views are actually women? Seems somewhat reaching that everyone who takes a contrarian view to your opinions must be a man pretending to be a woman.

SpaghettiAndMeatballs · 28/08/2017 21:27

I totally ignore the obvious ones now (in the past I had trouble resisting) - and if they're particularly appealing, I add them to my blocker so I don't even see them

enoughisenough12 · 28/08/2017 21:37

hmmm - of course - there are many many women who hold opposing views on here. But occasionally (and in this case, recently) there have been a couple of rather unpleasant examples.

Generally it is the opposing or differing views held by different women on here and the process of debating them that is so inspiring and interesting.

SpaghettiAndMeatballs · 28/08/2017 21:39

Well yes, happy to engage with the people who are here to engage, it's the GF that I block.
