I was visiting the Coventry Transport Museum today and came across this sign on their display. I've written it out below in case you can't view the image.
Annual average salary for men 1900s £70
Annual average salary for women 1900s £30
Annual average salary for men today £26,500
Annual average salary for women today £26,500
I'm not really sure how to articulate what I want to say here, and I didn't get chance to raise it with museum staff when I was there. I'd like to email them and ask how on Earth the average salaries can be the same but I thought I'd ask here if anyone could see where they could have interpreted this from salary data.
