Outrageous. I understand that for safety they need to search people, having been to football matches myself in the past and have had my bag searched etc.

Never have I ever been asked to lift up my top though. Surely if they really needed to do this (and I don't believe they did), it should have been done behind a screen for privacy and dignity. Not many women would be comfortable taking their top off in front of a bunch of strangers.

I believe them.

Rowgtfc72 · 22/08/2017 16:20

I'm a grimsby supporter but wasn't at this game. Much of what the supporters trust have said has been misquoted in the press. Yes, town fans were searched, males and females. Yes from what I can gather Stevenage were a little heavy handed. I think ladies being asked to flash their bras is a little different to searching males.

Unfortunately Grimsby fans as well as having the best away support in the league, are right up there as having a disruptive element. I would like to think they were trying to preempt trouble and it got out of hand.

I've been wanded at matches but never asked to lift my top. I have had to empty my pockets as the foil on my polos set the machine off.

Manclife, you said this yesterday:

I also champion the principal of believing victims of sexual crimes and have done since even before I became a rape crisis responder

Do you stand by that?

CatsAreAssholes · 22/08/2017 20:15

catsareassholes why has me being male got anything to do with it? Perhaps I just like to hear ALL the evidence before I judge peopl

I didn't say anything about you being male Hmm I used a short version of your name. Looking twice I see you were going for Manc life but not being British that wasn't immediately apparent.

However for the record, men coming in to a women's space with their testicles of objectivity saying they want to hear -"all sides" because multiple accounts from different women isn't enough, isn't new, big, or clever. It is standard male behaviour. It's douchey behaviour.

insancerre · 22/08/2017 20:25

I've flown in to Saudi Arabia and didn't have to lift my top at the airport
I've also been searched going in to gigs, in Manchester, the women were patted down by a woman, no top lifting involved

Manclife · 24/08/2017 14:47

@Xenophile yes I do stand by that. But I also believe a person is innocent until proven guilty.

Actually feminism chat is a predominantly woman's space, it would be a bit strange to find a topic about feminism and women's rights filled with men.

You are not the first and probably won't be the last to come in here and do exactly what cats said.

Testicles of objectivity would be an excellent name for a band.

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:09

You may have notice the people involved aren't on trial. You have, haven't you?

if your friend says he saw someone hit his car and run, you'd tell him you'd wait until the trial to have an opinion? Or you'd assume he wasn't making shit up as he goes along?

They won't be hanged until dead and so in the mean time it's perfectly acceptable for women to discuss typical sexual assault against women with out your interjections.

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:23

Besides the site description says nothing about being just for women so perhaps you should find a website solely for women if you want to make sweeping statements about

Did you need a "no boys allowed" sign to understand that the feminism section on Mums net might be Seen as a predominantly female space?

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:24

Testicles of objectivity would be an excellent name for a band.

I'm directing an Air Tambourine move at Manclife right now.

Manclife · 24/08/2017 15:24

If my DD comes to me and tell me DS had hit her then I would believe her. I then go and speak to the DS to get his side of the story then make an informed decision. What I don't do is walk straight into the other room and accuse/punish DS with speaking to him.

This isn't a male/female thing to do. Just a decent thing to do.

Manclife · 24/08/2017 15:27

Why would 'feminism' on a unisex thread be just for women? Unless I'm mistake feminism is about equal rights. Also why would I not want to discuss matters that may affect my mother, sister, daughter and wife?

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:28

Interesting I used an adult in that scenario and you changed it to a child, that you're parenting.

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:30

Of course you'd want to learn about things that affect them manclife*, but to assume you had anything of real value to add over actual women would take some serious TOO.

(Obviously only those women you're directly related to, fuck human rights in general.)

If his friend was a woman, he would most definitely question her observation skills. ;)

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:38

How did you get bitter from my questioning your refusal to answer the question?

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:39

If the friend was a woman he'd probably have assumed she did it herself while parallel parking.

Manclife · 24/08/2017 15:41

"But to assume you had anything of real value to add over actual women would take some serious TOO."

Sounds like a very bitter comment to me.

Manclife · 24/08/2017 15:44

If the friend was a woman he'd probably have assumed she did it herself while parallel parking.

It's comments like that which make less than 20% of women identify as feminists. Despite 80% wanting equal rights. Well done for harming your own cause.

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:46

Sounds like a very bitter comment to me.

That's not why bitter means.Confused

CatsAreAssholes · 24/08/2017 15:47

Well done for harming your own cause.

Are you the expert on why women don't identify as feminist too! Damn you're good.

I always thought it was because the majority of women were heterosexual and so many men seem to feel threatened by feminism.

They even call feminists bitter. Can you imagine?

Collidascope · 24/08/2017 15:53

*I always thought it was because the majority of women were heterosexual and so many men seem to feel threatened by feminism.

That was my view too, Cats. I'm so grateful to have this chance to learn from a wise man who knows more than we do.
