An excellent article on the problems inherent in gender self-identity and a petition to have the author silenced and reprimanded

I came across both this article by Kiri Trunks and the petition to silence her this morning on the Gender Critical subReddit and thought it was worth sharing both here.

I've flagged the petition and objected to it on the grounds that it misrepresents the content of the article and is an attempt to silence debate, and damage the author professionally and personally.

I read the article and flagged the petition. I pointed out that the article isn't at all transphobic or abusive and that the petition seems more like a personal attack on the writer.

The petition is so WTF, I can't believe it was written by adults.

I've flagged too. I thought it was a good article and really important to hear teachers' voices on this issue. The shutting down of debate (and women's voices) is totally out of control. I'm really disappointed that 38 Degrees would host a witch hunt type petition like that

I have flagged this too. Really glad someone so high up in the NUT is aware of this. I just think so many good/liberal women hear 'trans rights' and think hurray - as we have done (rightly) with gay rights, and as much, ideally, I would. They are not being given the facts that, with this Bill, trans rights mean the erosion of women's rights. Hope the stupid petition is pulled. I cannot STAND the screeching of 'transphobe! TERF!' every time anyone wants to discuss the subject. It is dangerous.
