This story resonates with me as I would be verbally attacked for not making a meal but to actually attack someone physically like this just makes me sick. Story Here I hope anyway.

Makes me feel physically sick too.

The murder of Humera Khan and so many other women are just part of the backdrop of our lives though, aren't they. Taken for granted almost. After all, here's a woman having the audacity not to do what a woman is meant to do - feed her man!

This is the extreme end of the spectrum which requires that women's purpose in life is to make sure their men are fed and cared for.

When I was struggling to breastfeed a month old premature baby, only days out of hospital, my now ex husband wondered why his shirt wasn't ironed. When I said to him that my priority was making sure that the baby was fed, he told me, "No, your priority is making sure that my shirts are ironed and my tea is on the table when I get home!"

He's a teacher. Most people think he's a nice guy.

I stuck it out for another 5 years.

I'll be 50 next year, and I have to say that the older I get, the less time I have for men. Yes, yes, I know there are good ones out there, and I have a son myself, but aargh - their fucking complacency as they benefit from an age-old system which leads to the brutal murder of women like Humera Khan because she didn't make her husband her priority.

It's both depressing and enraging.

Flowers to Seeingadistance Yes, it does take a long time to understand the abuse that's going on.

And thank you lookatmeimsandrabee for highlighting this.

I did like this statement and it's absolutely spot on:

Det Ch Insp Claire McEnery, of Lancashire Police, said: "This is a tragic case where Humera suffered a fatal head injury at the hands of her husband.
"It was a ferocious attack where she was bludgeoned to death with a lump hammer, causing catastrophic injuries to her as she was working on a sewing machine in her own house, a place where she was entitled to feel safe and secure."

Absolutely it's depressing and enraging.
