Joined the national trust recently, I'm the 'lead' member and DH is additional. The membership pack arrived today address to Mrs and Mr ostrich. A small thing but quite refreshing.

Yeah, our correspondence is addressed to Ms Me and Mr Him. I like that they are competent enough to write to us as requested.

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/07/2017 06:32

Lovely. It is refreshing.

Our building society managed to get us in the right order on our mortgage, so everything is addressed to Ms Dragon and Mr DHName. I felt that was quite refreshing after so many of my friends were placed second on back accounts even though they were applicant 1 on all the forms. One friend was moved to second place on her own bank account when she changed it to a joint account, and was told she couldn't do things without his permission, but he could do the same stuff without her ever being asked! She changed bank, and told them publicly why, but I have no idea if they've changed their policies.

glenthebattleostrich · 10/07/2017 07:01

I think it was the fact they automatically did this that I find refreshing they didn't just put the man first. DH doesn't get why I'm so pleased so had to post here :)

Wow! They insist on calling me Miss despite the fact that I have never used the term. Been members about 10 years or so. Perhaps I will try again to get them to change it, maybe they've got modern now.

Rosie70 · 10/07/2017 07:34

Unlike NPower. I changed account to them from British Gas having assessed that they were cheaper. My DP was listed in the online form as one of the people in the household along with DC.

Lo and behold, they have created account in his bloody name! I'm not even on it. Makes my blood boil. Felt like changing back to British Gas. Sexist bastards.

Yep, this happened to me, although they didn't tell me I couldn't do stuff (unlike the phone company and my mum).

There was one time with an internet provider where, having been bounced because I wasn't DP, I called straight back and when they asked me if I was I just said 'yes' and brazened it out, and they let me do what I wanted to do (it did help that I of course knew all the account details)

I added h to the council tax after he moved and suddenly I wasn't the main account holder. Makes me cross everytime the bill comes in!

Hassled · 12/07/2017 22:13

Our water company address their annual bill to Mr Fred Bloggs and Mrs MisspeltFirstName Bloggs. I have never, ever been Mrs Bloggs - I kept my maiden name. I have no idea why they think I'm Mrs Bloggs. So once a year every year I get disproportionately pissed off at local water company, who need to learn from the good old NT.

We've been members for years, and our cards show us as Mr X SeaRabbit and Mrs X SeaRabbit, as in I am Mr DH. I am very glad to se they have changed. I think I'll send them an email and get them to call me Ms.

SeaRabbit · 19/07/2017 06:42

Just looked at my card and they had actually already made the change, so I am shown as Ms F SeaRabbit. Woop. An email has been sent but it is a thank you one.

SlayeroftheVampyres · 19/07/2017 07:05

I'm glad they've finally got with the times.

We used to have joint membership that my parents bought us as a present. When I called to renew it and pay for a further year they would not proceed until I put my husband on the 'phone to give permission for the transaction despite the fact that it was coming from my current account.

All correspondence came addressed to him, despite me complaining, and even though we haven't been members for about 8 years, I still get emails to my personal email addressed to DHfirstname.

firsttimer12345 · 19/07/2017 07:26

Well done NT, we are just about to join but think it will just be me as I can just get young persons account.
Our cleaner sends our bills to me at my email address which is [email protected] but addressed to DH. And the money comes out of my account. I get so annoyed every week that I refuse to pay on time.

WrittenandGrown · 19/07/2017 07:43

National Trust did the same for us and didn't even bother with titles. 👍👍
