I can't wait to see it!

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 22/05/2017 19:40

I danced round the sitting room when I saw the trailer and realised it was going to be on free-to-view! Really looking forward to it.

PencilsInSpace · 22/05/2017 20:27

That has cheered me right up, which seems a bit wrong for such a dystopian tale Confused Is it going to be available on catch up / All 4 do we know?

Firenight · 22/05/2017 20:28

Damn - bank holiday weekend and I will be away. I was really hoping it would be on demand somwhere.

Destinysdaughter · 22/05/2017 20:31

Well you will be able to catch it on All4 later, and I think it's in 10 parts?

I'm looking forward to seeing this.
I only read it very recently.

ProfPlumInTheLibrary · 22/05/2017 20:35

Ooh how exciting. I might try and reead the book before it's on.

ParadiseLaundry · 22/05/2017 20:46

Thanks for the heads up! I am useless and would have missed it otherwise! Got it on series link, can't wait Smile

TeaStory · 22/05/2017 20:49

Thanks for this, I'm so glad I'm going to be able to see it. The book was outstanding.

Sierra259 · 22/05/2017 20:50

Oohh, definitely going to record it. Thanks for the heads up!

ThymeLord · 22/05/2017 20:51

Brilliant. Will tape this. Thanks!

Laurapalmer90 · 22/05/2017 20:56

Brilliant. I only read the book a couple of years ago and loved it. I didn't think I would get to see this.

newtlover · 22/05/2017 21:21

great, thanks for letting us know

WhereYouLeftIt · 22/05/2017 21:22

I loved the book and the film with Natasha Richardson and Faye Dunaway. Really looking forward to this!

Whiskwarrior · 22/05/2017 21:27

I've just downloaded the first six bleedin' episodes because I thought we weren't getting it for ages!

Once of my favourite books. Studied it at college just before Christmas and had a revisit last week. As relevant today - more so? - than when it was first published.

MA said there is nothing that happens in it that hasn't already happened somewhere in the world - she just amalgamated it all into one story.

Horrifying.

Destinysdaughter · 22/05/2017 23:03

As soon as I saw it advertised today I knew I wanted to post it on here. There's already a thread about it on Telly Addicts by pp who have managed to watch it. Didn't want to add to it, as they're already discussing it. Look forward to discussing it here with you all and so glad C4 picked it up so quickly! Smile

Thanks for the heads up!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 22/05/2017 23:06

I'm not sure I can watch it. I FEEL too much, all the time, for women who are constantly oppressed by disgusting men. I pretty much detest men as it is!! I am scared that if I watch this, my hatred of men will grow beyond my means to contain it and I will be the one to suffer!!

DJBaggySmalls · 22/05/2017 23:21

You can watch it online if you have a C4 account.

LastGirlOnTheLeft The book is a tough read and you do get a bit immersed in it, even though its set in the future. It actually feels a bit closer today than when it was written, what with the right taking power in the USA.

erinaceus · 24/05/2017 06:13

Thanks for flagging this up. I am looking forward to watching it and discussing it here after.

LastGirlOnTheLeft Don't watch it if you do not feel up to it. There is no weakness in protecting yourself from suffering further. One thing you could do is let us watch it and see our discussion and then make a call for yourself. Have you read the book already?

AnyFucker · 24/05/2017 06:19

Whooppee

barefootinkitchen · 24/05/2017 06:24

Looking forward to it. Finished reading the book only today.

Cooroo · 24/05/2017 06:41

Insanely excited about this. Read it in the 80s and re-read when DD studied it at school. We had some good talks about it.

bruffian · 24/05/2017 06:54

It's had great reviews. Really looking forward to it.

ChocChocPorridge · 24/05/2017 09:21

Last, I had to stop about 5 minutes into the first episode because I was in tears. I calmed down and went back to it, and it was fine.

My criticism is that the narration is unnecessary and detracts from it. I think we can all tell what she's thinking without her thoughts having to be spoken out loud.
