Feminism in prehistoric times / primitive culture

Hi. Is it possible in theory that any kind of feminist movement could conceivably have existed in prehistoric times or in any primitive culture? I don't mean matriarchal societies, I mean a feminist movement.

The Bear Grylls one with men and women on the same island who found each other was ace. The women cracked on with things much better than the men. When the female and male groups met, the men were making comments about having to look after the women now Hmm. They fucked around with bits of wood and made a small crap bed for one in a day. Meanwhile, the women made a big strong shelter for everyone. Men also obsessed with "hunting" (not so much "catching" though) whilst the women provided the basic daily sustenance. There was a great bit where chief dick moaned about an older woman doing the water collection trip with him, and offering to carry her jerry can. She marched off back to camp with it slung over a shoulder whilst he struggled with his. And the US series was terrifying better! A load of egos, one goes bonkers and nearly stabs another because he can't cope with feeling emotional and cying.

Oh I have to watch this bear grylls one,! I think op is referring to a really crap show a few years ago that was all a bit channel 5. I lost interest after the first episode. There was another one where they went back to living in 10,000 BC. That was good. The most successful tribe was run by a woman, and the men were obsessed with hunting and a few of them very mysoginustc to the women, but they couldn't catch shit.

I can't remember which one it was TBH....maybe an earlier series of Bear?

There was a man's island and a woman's island and very annoyingly the women were a bit shit. But obviously, unless you're practically brain dead (looking at you OP) it's clearly a reflection of the specific 12 women they picked than women in general.

As PP said the next series had both sexes on one island and the women killed it.

For my sins I watch Naked And Afraid. What shines out is that the people they pick, especially the men, are generally quite sexist and stuck in their ways. Often the men are over-confident in their skills, or take foolish risks (I've only seen crazy risk-taking from one woman).

When it comes to laziness and ability, both women and men seem evenly matched, although I've seen more men be sent home for injuring themselves through stupid behaviour (cutting themselves with machete by hacking away without care, drinking unclean water, eating long-dead animals) than women. When it comes to being left alone if their partner gets sent home, again, they seem fairly evenly matched about how well that is dealt with.

What that says to me is that people are all different, but in a primitive situation, your skills and mental strength matter much more than your sex.
