Missing Girls in Washington DC

Basically 501 underage girls are missing in the DC area. For various reasons, the police won't issue "Amber Alerts" on these girls, meaning that they're not getting the media coverage they need. Twitter has caught on and a lot of people are tweeting about it. Some people think there might be some sort of human trafficking going on.

This is why we really need #Blacklivesmatter!

Okay, the official number is 34 since Jan 2017, which is shockingly-high!

It is shocking. People are calling it the "US Ciudad Juarez" in reference to the Mexican border town where young women disappear without trace frequently.

It shows how little young women matter. The police appear to be doing as little as possible.

Thanks op. I have read and twitted about the girls. I think what is worse for them is falling into the group that people don't care that much about. There is a distancing and unreliability for people to feel like it's one of there own.

This sort of racist sexism is something else.

Can we find out the numbers relating to boys?

None of the websites I came across in the last week mentioned boys. The number of girls was picked up from police twitter feed of missing children.

Horrible. Hard to credit we live in such a world.

The even more worrying thing is that they are of a similar age. The police should have noticed that.

The FBI were able to find mega-rich white man Tom Brady's (New England Patriots quarterback) stolen jersey(s) in Mexico, but these missing girls are ignored. Speaks volumes.

Dame - it shows how much these young women don't matter. I live in the States. If young white women from middle class homes, were disappearing in such numbers (from the same city/area), I can assure you it would be all over the media. Young white girls from poorer homes, probably not so much.
