"The woman bravely visited her abuser five years ago in prison as part of a bid to get closure. But she was stunned to see the man who attacked her dressed as a woman. She said: “I had no idea what was going on. He was sat there wearing a wig and make-up. He had boobs.”"

Winfield’s brother Nigel, 49, told The Sun: “The best they could do is throw away the key. He is a menace to the public and people need to be warned about him.”

Unmentioned... name a prison in the female estate that has a high security wing.

It was later reported he decided to become a man again and was waiting to have his second operation on the NHS.

He wanted to change back again?

Dear God, he's taking the piss.

I sometimes read those ABIU posts about should I go to A&E and the general consensus seems to be that its only an emergency if you are actually dead already.

Yet the cash strapped NHS is paying for a man who attacked women (this is a different case to the main one) to have two completely unecessary operations while he is incarcerated.

I alwayd wondered if I'd move to the right in my old age ... reading this makes me think I might - except it is the loony right that is supporting and paying for it.

Rape is not about sex, it is about power. Having total control over another, enjoying their fear and their submission.

So, Ponting has

• made the prison authorities call him another name
• made the NHS fund his surgery
• made the prison authorities move him to a women's prison
• made a female prisoner so fearful that she will self-harm if it gets her away from him
• made The Sun put him on the front page
• made all The Sun readers aware of him

Still on a power trip IMO, getting his jollies from forcing the hands of those ostensibly in control of him (the prison authorities). No change in his attitude to others.

I kind of hope Ian Huntley does transition, as it is only a high profile case like his that will get the general public to sit up and take notice of this whole farce.

His prison time has been brilliant for him. He's got everything he ever wanted handed to him on a plate - while he serves a sentence for raping two girls.

This woman is great. The guy is a twonk.

The Women's and Equalities Committee of MPs have published a report on transgender rights. They favour changing the law to allow self identification of gender. No criteria, no need for treatment or surgery or "living as a woman". Just saying you are a woman will be enough.

If they have their way, this will be happening with men with intact and functional penises in a few years.

And the Cttee also want to end the right to exclude transwoman from Women's services and spaces if appropriate which currently exists.

It's not amazing that night none of these reports mention the new bill and that if it is passed any man can self-declare as a woman, eve thought it will be in parliament this week. The Mail even includes a reassuring line about the steps needed to be considered a woman. Not a peep that Maria Miller's bill will sweep these away.

Nothing about the rights of the women locked up in prison with this person!

No one pointing out that he now wants to change back to a man that I read in one of the papers.

He's taking everyone for a ride.

I'm still cynical about reports of Ian Huntley transitioning. It seems 'too good to be true', and a total tabloid gift.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to the reports at all?

I too cannot believe the NHS funded a sex change operation for a convicted rapist, whilst they were serving their sentence.

Those poor women that this rapist will be housed with. Women in prison are an extremely vulnerable group. Why should they be subjected to this man?

The Gender Identity Bill is a Private Members bill without government support so it won't get any further at the moment. BUT, it's the way things are going, if we don't change the way the transgender activists are dictating government policy.
