I get that we have a precious little echo chamber here, but is he right that most of the women in the western world just don;t care, don;t see the need and wish we'd all FTFO?

OP posts:
BertPuttocks · 16/03/2017 10:01

Ah! Does this mean the end of those irritating small-print statistics at the bottom of adverts?

No more "76% of the 102 women questioned said that our product was the best."

Just "Mr Albadross read the minds of all women of the western world and said they didn't really give a shit."

Much easier.

AyeAmarok · 16/03/2017 10:15

Hi OP, I just did a quick survey of most women, and they said they didn't give a shit what your dh says.

Grin
MrsCobain · 16/03/2017 11:12

Missymerry my dh always makes my tea too strong.

Or

Doesn't stir it properly so it's not sweet enough then one mouthful of teasing sweet at the end.

Bastard.

Nobody cares enough about this imo.

Xenophile · 16/03/2017 11:22

Tea is vile.

There, I said it.

Vile.

Fruit teas are worse. Taste like boiled fruit strained through an old wooly sock.

I care very much about double lollies right now. Can't find them anywhere. Except the enormous ones and they don't fit in my mouth which, contraray to popular belief, is not that large.

What has the Patriarchy done with the delicate ladylike double lollies?

Stormtreader · 16/03/2017 11:25

Down with this sort of thing! waves placard Careful now!

Tonka4 · 16/03/2017 11:44

DJBaggySmalls What does that have to do with anything? Domestic violence is a criminal issue, a very serious one at that, not a feminist issue.

Men are much more likely to be the victims of violent crime.

IAmAmy · 16/03/2017 11:47

Tonka4 I'd say the scourge of domestic violence, rape culture and street harassment which women and girls face daily, amongst so many other issues, suggest feminism is still pretty important worldwide, including in the western world.

IAmAmy · 16/03/2017 11:48

How do you like your eggs in the morning?
Most women don't give a shit about this
Up or down, I'll never frown, eggs can be almost bliss
And most women don't give a shit about this

DJBaggySmalls · 16/03/2017 11:49

Tonka4 Thanks for your opinion.
Domestic violence is not a feminist issue? Why isnt it?
All statistics show that men are the ones who are most often violent whether their victim is their female partner or male, and men wont tackle the issue. So if we go quiet theres no one left to do anything about it.

2 Women get kicked out of DV shelter for refusing to share room with trans males;
globalnews.ca/news/3300518/concerns-over-transgender-client-at-okanagan-shelter/

But its not an issue women should be concerned about? You're living in a different world to many of us.

Bundesliga · 16/03/2017 11:52

Hi OP, I just did a quick survey of most women, and they said they didn't give a shit what your dh says.

It's the truth.

ChocChocPorridge · 16/03/2017 11:59

Men are much more likely to be the victims of violent crime.

Only when you exclude sexual offences from 'violent crime'

IAmAmy · 16/03/2017 12:00

And that about men being so widely quoted to shut down raising awareness of the risks women and girls constantly face shows how little women are valued; that sexual offences aren't even considered "violent".

Deadsouls · 16/03/2017 12:03

Care about what? What's this all about?

Tonka4 · 16/03/2017 12:09

DJBaggySmalls I never said it was an issue women shouldn't be concerned about. People of both sexes are victims of violence, men more so than women, but it's not an issue about sexism.

IAmAmy I can't take anyone seriously who uses the bullshit term 'rape culture'. There is no evidence that a 'rape culture' exists. In fact rape is the one crime that is almost universally despised by both men and women. We punish it severely in this country and I put it to you that you'd struggle to find anyone who thinks rape is acceptable. I've certainly never met anyone who thinks it's okay. Have you?

Alice212 · 16/03/2017 12:13

not sure why posters are pretending not to know what OP means....

I think according to various surveys etc he is right, most women don't care about feminism or actively dislike it - certainly not a huge percentage identify as one.

Does it affect how you feel OP? Those recent survey figures came as a surprise to me but then MN has also been a shock to me in all kinds of ways!

IAmAmy · 16/03/2017 12:14

Tonka4 I've seen and heard plenty of victim blaming and rape jokes, yeah. We punish it so severely that these two horrific rapists were freed without a thought from the parole board and committing the crime again and these are just two who actually made any news in the last couple of months: www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/15100939.Man_pleads_guilty_to_rape_in_Botley_park/ / www.theargus.co.uk/news/5167857.display/

Oh and that second one was so "hated" he was out drinking with a group of friends before his second (known) crime and got married the same day.

Xenophile · 16/03/2017 12:15

not sure why posters are pretending not to know what OP means....

Because we're having a laugh and a joke...

Deadsouls · 16/03/2017 12:21

No I really don't know as OP didn't say in the post and hasn't clarified.

HelgaHufflepuff76 · 16/03/2017 12:24

I think this is part of a wider problem of most people not really giving politics in general much thought.
They take for granted their hard won rights to healthcare, workers rights, voting rights etc, but don't consider that these things were not always there and had to be fought for.
They also tend to think that when one thing has been achieved then the fight is over, which it never is.

DJBaggySmalls · 16/03/2017 12:25

Tonka4
IAmAmy I can't take anyone seriously who uses the bullshit term 'rape culture'.
Then you dont know what rape culture is.
Did you miss the Ched Evans trial? I'm not sure it was a big deal in the USA.
Google 'The cotton ceiling' and you'll see plenty of Trans rights activists telling lesbian women they have to take dick or they are transphobic. Thats rape culture.

BertrandRussell · 16/03/2017 12:33

"Because we're having a laugh and a joke..."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

BertrandRussell · 16/03/2017 12:34

" I can't take anyone seriously who uses the bullshit term 'rape culture'."

Can I ask what you think it means?

flumpybear · 16/03/2017 12:36

OP if your husband is talking about feminism ..... or the term I much prefer is 'gender equality' then he's wrong!! Women don't want to be seen as second class citizens

Also I'd guess that most women don't want to be seen as a bra burning radical feminist .... but there are always varying degrees of everything, which is just life, and fine, but wanting gender equality shouldn't be viewed as a radicalist issue - it's just equality for all

If he does in fact mean tea - mi husband is second class at making my tea!! My deputy (a man!) is far superior HmmWink

I certainly wouldn't build cupboards because of the size of the table under the window, just get a smaller table to sit there.
