Rape victims not necessarily treated fairly in courts

Judges still regularly allowing victim sexual history and dress cross-examination

I'm sure that this will come as no surprise to those of you who've been through the court system but it does give credence to our 'anecdata'. So despite being repeatedly told by people mansplainers that we have it wrong given the previous tightening up of the law on victims cross-examining, in fact a worrying number of judges do seem to ignore this or think it is valid.

Not sure about the use of 'accusers' in the headline, either. Accusers is quite loaded with regards to rape, as if they aren't victims until proven in a court of law. Not quite believed. All adds to the narrative around rape. Often women who are raped don't even accuse anyone. They report a crime. The prosecution are doing the accusing. The victim is just a witness.

As you say, good to have the evidence to back up our personal experience of this shit.

And it is shit. I thought we were making a small amount of progress when Keir Starmer was attorney general, but things seem to have gone backwards again.

Sorry, name change on the Trump thread - "lest we forget the victims of the Bowling Green 'massacre'". Someone posted a gif of a rather cute hedgehog knocking over some skittles.

Not remotely surprised about the prevalence of this, but it is good to know people are trying to change things. I hope the bill is successful, but I don't feel that hopeful after a bill to protect dv victims was recently derailed by that complete wankstain Philip Davies.
