They were the Brighton variety of pro sex work pro trans, non male loving women.... well self identifying women.

I've no idea who ALW are, but I'm pretty sure that this infighting between groups on different parts of the feminist spectrum is just turning people off the idea of feminism altogether. It's as nasty as it is embarrassing.

They are a group much like everyday feminism which destroys the structure and foundation of feminism. It's more damaging than MRAs

I'm still there! It's a massive group, containing anyone who might conceivably be considered an "Amazing Lefty Woman".
It does lean very heavily towards the liberal end of things.
A friend of mine once tested the "lefty" part by posting quite basic socialist statement for discussion (things like: Inheritance is imoral). They all proved incredibly contriversial for some reason

I don't know anything about the group amazing lefty women.

The Guardian seems to be switching over to the American preference for referring to many people as liberal, which seems to mean right wing people who consider themselves culturally progressive.

I hope more people do start referring themselves as liberal, so that left wing movements can be about left wing aims and policies.

There's lashing out and there's critically challenging. The idea that any women identifying as a feminist should be automatically exempt from criticism by other feminists is neither viable or desirable.

There are, inarguably, lots of women calling themselves feminists who are full of shit.

I identify, loosely, as a socialist. That doesn't mean I sympathise with the politics of The Red Brigade.

To be a feminist you need to have feminist views, Widow. Not all those who describe themselves as feminist hold such views. For example I have yet to read anything on Everyday Feminism that qualifies as feminist. The current fashion for claiming that anything a woman does is feminist just because a woman is doing it is nonsense. Feminism is a very broad movement but you still need to have at least some feminist beliefs to define yourself as such.

To expect any form of debate I think you have to try a bit harder than

The disdain on FWR for liberal feminism is pretty much what stopped me from posting here regularly.

I'd agree that plenty of women call themselves feminist but don't necessarily perform feminist acts or hold entirely feminist beliefs but given that I fall into that category myself on occasion I'd be reluctant to write off other feminists simply because they hold views contrary to my own. GIven that women are a diverse group, I'd expect feminists to be an equally diverse group.

And equally there are plenty of women who refuse to call themselves feminists who are the strongest, most vocal and most effective campaigners for women's rights.

I have often seen as a put down on FWR the comment that men (and occasionally women) post on here just to tell the FWR radical feminists "they are doing feminism wrong" and how dare they.

I'm not sure that different groups of feminists can destroy the structure and foundation of feminism. There are all different kinds of feminism including liberal and conservative feminism.

Feminists are going to disagree on many things, and agree on others.

Okay so it was on there I hit peak trans as a MTT, not even actually was still deciding at 60 whether he/she (not sure) wanted to be female.

She (for sake of not being fucking deleted) posted numerous photos of herself, looking incredibly masculine and very unattractive and got huge applause and compliment, in a way that a woman just wouldn't. He expressed violent thoughts about women as a "joke", all really sinister. I even got messages from one of the admins saying the poster's "male voice" was frightening and upsetting for her as she had been a victim of sustained violence but then in public she defended him against my apparent "TERFness".

Then the pro sex work, it's all toooooooo libfem fascist for me.

Maybe ... I didn't quite understand the OP. However, I actually see criticism and debate as a good thing and as healthy for feminism, and feminism has always had a long history of this. I'm now working in an area where there is One True Line to walk and I find it stifling and ultimately unproductive.

Criticism and debate is good, but that's not what the opening post was asking for- it was just asking for affirmation that ALW are useless handmaidens.

I suspect I would have little time for ALW, what with not being a lefty and not being pro sex work.

As I know nothing about ALW and Google brings up a twitter account with 9 followers and no tweets and a pretty much dead Facebook account, I can't really debate - beyond possibly commenting that throwing of the accusation of "handmaiden" at anyone who does not agree with you is irritating.

I'm not sure that handmaiden is stand in for 'anyone who does not agree with you', but given I rarely bother with FB / Twitter and don't know anything about the group being referred to, I can't comment any further, aside from saying that I agree that slanging matches are generally wrong, but I have no problem with healthy debate.
