www.cbsnews.com/news/bono-is-the-first-man-on-glamours-women-of-the-year-list/

Apparently Glamour decided this year to run a "Man of the year" category in the "Woman of the year" awards Confused

I can't decide if it's a necessary step to try to raise more publicity after last year's Caitlyn Jenner award, or if they are just idiots.

Here's an inspirational quote
Bono said in a statement Tuesday from Glamour that the battle for gender equality won’t be won unless men step up and lead alongside women.

There are certainly XXX women, and XY people assigned female gender from birth due to androgen insensitivity or some other reason, who almost everybody would call women.

You weren't talking about genetic anomalies. You were distinguishing from men who claim to transition to being women despite having XY chromosomes.

Seriously people, Spartacus is all very well, but it shouldn't mean you can monster members of the crowd who refuse to stand up and say it when they were just passing by on the way to the shops.

A post gave a depressingly misleading impression. I wanted to correct it out of a sheer spirit of pedantry, because it wasn't correct.
You could describe the impression given as:
"Glamour magazine hasn't given its WOTY award to any Cis-women in the last three years" or "Glamour magazine hasn't given its WOTY award to any women in the last three years".
Each of these statements takes a stand. Each is hugely offensive to some people. I'm not here to cause offence or take a stand, just for today, under this nn, I happen not to be Spartacus. But I was vaguely interested in the media storm around this ludicrous PR confection and its tenuous relations to the facts so I thought I'd spread a little data. How should one do this without taking a stand and offending someone? "Women born as women" doesn't count by the way, I thought of that one.

Last year the woman of the year award went to a man, Bruce jenner, this year Bone is nominated.

I think "glamour" may have morphed from a womans mag into a tabloid

So because Bono is a man tirelessly working in aid of womens causes when he doesn't have to that means he is deserving of a reward above all the other women who work tirelessly in aid of womens causes.

Whole thing is idiotic.

ChangedDaily Other women may have formed part of the "Women" of the Year list, but who was on the cover of those issues and therefore are the most highly publicised?

2014 - Laverne Cox
2015 - Caitlyn Jenner
2016 - haven't actually seen the cover yet, but I'll place big money on it being Bono and not Simone Biles...

I was thinking about this on the way to work and it feels almost deliberate to push women's boundaries and reassert men in charge. I thought I'd extrapolate from current trajectory Grin
2014 - Laverne Cox, transitioned young, ages ago, passes well.
2015- let's push it a bit further. Caitlyn Jenner, very recently transitioned, older at time and well known when she was Bruce
2016 - well Caitlyn was OK, so let's try and actual man who may be feminist. Bono.
2017 - let's try a man who isn't a feminist but is a good egg. Barack Obama.
2017 - let's have a misogynist. Donald Trump wins Shock

Yeah, it's all a bit pointless really, isn't it? Why even have a woman of the year award if you're not going to give it to a woman. Perhaps next year they should give it to a monkey or something.
Do women buy this magazine, and if so, why?.I can't imagine buying a mag which seems to value women so little.

Why couldn't he have "Man of the Year" award for his feminist work? Or a men's awards reserved for proper manly "good" work like science and engerneering and stuff?
