Help - need a comeback to this online misogyny

Local high profile political wannabe likes to post controversial comments about national political events on his Facebook timeline.

He's commented on the content last nights Question Time, following it up with a "complimentary" comment about the appearance of one of the female panel members.

I want to challenge it. I need to challenge it. But how?

I don't have any witty ideas, but you could:

• comment "I don't think her appearance is relevant, but [something, preferably insightful, about his relevant comment]"

• comment along the lines of "As a woman, I find it annoying that my appearance is evaluated when men are judged on what they say."

• comment on a male panellist's appearance

• ask "Are you planning to run for POTUS?"

• post without comment a link to some paper or article about how women, more than men, are given attention for their appearance rather than what they say.

Please say something, though.

Sadly, having done some research, I suspect the comment in question is designed to goad the women he knows into commenting, just so he can put us back in our box.
The target of his misogyny is Isabel Oakeshott - not the most ardent of feminists, unfortunately.
I'm sure if I made any comment about his sexism, he'd quote her back at me:
"women should be pleased that men express the inclination to talk to them"
" if..male MP's are a little more forthcoming because we wear skirts, who are we to complain"

At least I didn't make a fool of myself and jump in....

Choose your battles.
If you think he is trolling (as in the real sense and not what the media are calling trolling) then don't feed him and ignore him. Why walk into the elephant trap that you know he is setting.

I tried this as a local town councillor. One of the 'youth' councillors made inappropriate remarks to sixth form student girls from the local school who were studying politics. Along the lines of your 16 and therefore legal.

I was outraged! I didn't hear this conversation, but had been speaking to the students earlier, it was lively and they were very much engaged. I said to them, I'm speaking to you in a non party way. Just about politics. I then introduced them to my male fellow party members.

Nothing was done on a party level. I was even told that once they hit puberty, these girls play all the tricks!

This man was suspended a couple of years after I left due to sexist remarks being made to fellow councillors. He has since been reinstated, and now is spokesperson for the local bail hostel which houses sex offenders.

You couldn't make it up.

I probably wouldn't bother posting if it's just designed to rile people. But if I absolutely had to say something, I wouldn't bother to engage in any constructive way, I'd just post something patronising like "Bless you, you're a noodle, aren't you?", like you would to a six year old showing off for attention. Any sort of serious comeback is always grist to the mill for these types. Maddening though, isn't it? I had to delete a few contrarian types off my timeline because really, who can be arsed.

I'd go for a more subtle kind of put-down, like "Re comments on X's appearance, you may find politics a little boring, and it's nice that you're able to find something to interest you. But in fact there were some valid issues, and what X said in response to Y's remarks was..."

The idea is to suggest that Mr Twit isn't taking the topic seriously, and maybe he shouldn't be taken seriously either.
