I hope it's not just me that finds this so not progressive:
Dad who’s an MMA fighter and police officer says raising a preemie is harder

Why did we need to wait for validation from a man? Most women can compare working to looking after a baby - most women work before they take maternity leave. So really they should already be able to compare the two experiences.

And he's not even talking about all SAHMs! He specifies 'a preemie' [sic].

I find it so annoying to see women sharing this helpful 'mansplaining' validation.

I don't have an issue with what he originally said. If it's become the 'last word' on the sahm debate simply because he's a man then yes, that's very irritating.

Yes, that's a better explanation of the irritation I had with it stealth - the suggestion that we can now accept it because a man said it. Maybe I was too quick to leap to irritation!

Yup, thousands of women every day (many of them here on MN!) find caring for DCs absolutely knackering, but man says it's hard work and everyone sits up and listens!

Still, a lot of the time there is a kind of competitive tiredness thing going on, here and in RL, so anything that encourages discussion among men people who haven't experienced both sides of it is probably helpful!

Seriously? This is from a website called 'Scary Mommies', do you really think that everyone is reading this? I've never heard of it before this thread.

Whether you like the article or not is a different matter, but I very much doubt if many people have sat up and listened as a result of it.
