It's entirely possible I haven't understood a word of this interview, but if I have, isn't what Judith Butler says in it somewhat at odds with many posters on FWR and for example Greer? She is happy with men having vaginas?

Which is why it would be an interesting dinner party!

Gordon Ramsey - don't like him, however he's a man of strong opinions and I can imagine GG would sort him out.

Hitler - strictly for his vegetarianism and Mr Ramsey doesn't tolerate them well iirc. Now that should be an interesting conversation.

Judge Rinder - I need to know the Strictly gossip and he has a good verbal put down when necessary.

And Sandi Toksvig to break the silence with an interesting fact when the above have argued to a standstill.

And I realise that's a bit light on the feminist slant, apologies.

I mean, I might, but only if I also invited Alice Miller. She could ask him about his childhood. That would be interesting, I suppose.

But to be honest, I wouldn't really enjoy having someone like that in my house.
Germaine Greer would be interesting, but I'd also like to invite Patricia Briggs to talk about fantasy literature. And Ann Leckie. I'd like to see what Leckie and Greer would have to say about gender. Not soure what Leckie's politics are, and that would be an occasion to find out and not have to verbally counter transwacktivism myself.

Of course I could also invite Tolkien, his former friend Lewis, and Germaine Greer, and Emily Pankhurst, and some more recent feminist blogger, and then we'd ask those to male authors what the fuck they were thinking when they decided to have almost no women in their novels, respectively portraying women in an incredibly sexist way.

Mostly, I don't like anything upsetting in my home, and there are people I don't think deserve my homemade chocolate cake, so just feminists and famous female fantasy authors would be perfect.

I might order takeaway food for the male authors.

But he's not particularly interesting is he? He's basically a sweary bully. I can think of plenty of people I don't like and with whom I disagree vehemently and who would be more interesting than Gordon Ramsay.

I prefer my dinner parties to be civil and good natured, not argumentative, but I'm not fond of confrontation.

There would have to be a house rule that anything being discussed must be in relatively simple English. DD would understand but I would struggle with anything that required desserts to be positioned around the table to form galaxies or solar systems.
