Feeling frustrated: "When's feeding time?" Shouted at in Cardiff city Centre whilst pushing my 5 month LO

I was shopping yesterday in Cardiff when a group of older men (50's/60's?) shouted at me very loudly "when's feeding time?". They were obviously on a day of drinking (on a Sunday?) and were wearing Canadian flag related items. Anyway, I was so embarrassed I practically ran with the Pram into JD Sports and "hid out".

I cannot believe that the they felt that they had the right to do that and I'm gutted I didn't say anything. I feel that I really let myself down by not holding them to account. What would you have done? I just feel part of the problem now!

You are not part of the problem, they are the entire problem.

If you felt threatened by them, or as you say, they had been drinking, walking briskly away without engaging was probably the best thing you could have done.

"Oh, I thought Canadians were polite, enlightened people. Not all of them it seems. Your Prime Minister is cool though" would be my esprit d'escalier response. In real life I would've probably been momentarily confused then scurried off though.

Yeah we are ok I'm just gutted. I haven't experienced anything like that since being pregnant (aka from strangers) and it's been refreshing. And yep good ol' Justin Trudeau restored my faith in humanity but I suppose assuming all Canadians are the same in a positive way is still assuming it seems. What a shame!

Unfortunately people are dicks everywhere and seemingly more so when drunk.

It's totally not your job to educate them - that's on them, so don't try taking on a responsibility just because that's what women do.

Being intimidated and wanting to hide is the most natural response. If they had an ounce of sympathy they would feel guilty and embarrassed that they made you feel like that.

I always think if Canadians being such a nice bunch of people - then I remind myself that Justin Beiber is Canadian :)

Twats are twats wherever they come from. You did what you needed to do - and was therefore the right thing to do. And it is THEM who are the problem.
