Apparently he attacked her in a jealous rage after she spoke to a waiter, and she didn't press charges because she didn't want to put her sons through that ordeal of watching their father be prosecuted.
Must journalists refer to a DV victim as a 'selfie queen' as if it has any significance to her story? I know it's the DM but FFS, this kind of language does send messages to readers, the message mainly being 'you can get hit by your husband but we'll still criticise you for being vain'.
Some of the comments are sickening, including one that she should have the decency to cover her bandages because she's attention seeking. She's wearing a sundress in the Costa Blanca FFS, totally appropriate attire. I imagine if she wore a polo neck jumper in 35 degree heat she'd also get criticised for attention seeking.
Aside from my post being a rant about the way DV victims are portrayed in the media, I really do think there should be a call for regulation in the way journalists report violent crimes against women - ie not use language that demonises or criticises the female for matters unrelated to the incident
