How to word a complaint to DHL

I walked past a parked DHL van at hospital this morning. After I didn't acknowledge the lascivious "Guten Morgen" (i live in Germany), the driver started the engine and followed me as I hurried to my car. He demanded I talk to him, asking why a "pretty lady" would ignore him. He drove off after he repeatedly got no response, but I was left shaken and feeling very uncomfortable.

I really want to complain to DHL about it - but I don't really know what to say. I'm reluctant to do it via Facebook because it's so public, but perhaps that's the best way. Any ideas?

I wouldn't go via FB or Twitter to start - it should be between you and DHL, and I'd have thought if you can give a time and place, they should be able to work out which driver it was and take appropriate action.

If they didn't take me seriously or respond appropriately, I might consider going public after that.

I assume they will have a customer services email or phone number on a Contact Us web page.

You should write a calm and measured and factual letter to either customer services or any senior management shown on website.

I don't know what the German equivalent of Companies House is but all UK company information is available online and you can get information on who the directors are and the registered office. You could send a copy of your letter to a director /company secretary as well.

I would not use email. I would use a paper letter sent by recorded delivery so they cannot deny getting it. You should phone and ask for the correspondence address of the complainants depth.

And keep at it until you get the answer you want. I'll bet this guy has form.

Writing a letter sounds good. I hope they fire him. They can't expect women to open their doors to drivers who behave like this.

This happened to me at Tesco, a member of staff would come up to me every morning and say hello and that I was very pretty. The last straw was when he followed me out the store to sit next to me at a bus stop alone and ask me for my number. Thankfully the bus came and I avoided any weird situations

I contacted Tescos online customer service with a narrative of what had happened that morning and was emailed by the area manager a few days later and offered compensation.

Google DHL and the town you were in and you can find the relevant service centre pretty easily. Write to the service centre manager

Sugar do you mind me asking what Tesco gave you? And was it termed compensation or something like a goodwill gesture?

Oh no it was good will and £25. I didn't expect anything and almost refused it.

All I wanted was an acknowledgement from the company about this behaviour and some assurance that this wouldn't happen again. The area manager was appalled that this had happened and although they can't give out any information about a member of staff employment status they made it clear they would speak to him about the incident.
