Why is this happening in Manchester?

I was taking a walk , when i spotted this outrageous image on a public cab. Why is this happening? I have a kid for god sake. These images with naked women are in public, children see them! I'm not a prude, but this should be forbidden. And on top of that, they are even advertising a porn website. Any children can access it. "One click away". I even went to the cab driver and told him. I was that angry :(
Can you do that nowadays?

Why is this happening in Manchester?

I'm surprised you can advertise such a site like that! Was the taxi from a particular company? If so I'd complain direct to them, and perhaps also to the council as they presumably license the taxis.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 18/07/2016 10:10

No adverts on the side of Ubers.

If cab drivers want to look sleazy and put themselves out of business, it's not my problem. I wouldn't get in a cab with a sign like that on the side: the driver is basically saying "I'm a sleazy pervert who advocates the objectification of women, so the only customers I'm interested in are other wankers".

slightlyglitterbrained · 18/07/2016 10:19

Cuboidal - given this kind of report, I stay away from Uber

You could try licensing dept at yr council?

Ours has a restriction in place for cabs displaying adverts for lap dancing clubs. You could see if there is any scope through them or a friendly local councillor?

Iamthegreatest1 · 18/07/2016 10:28

how disgusting.

omri · 18/07/2016 10:30

That's repulsive

ApocalypseSlough · 18/07/2016 10:40

Flag him down and say, 'I wouldn't get in your cab for the advert.' If enough people do that they'll stop taking the pimp's money.

ApocalypseSlough · 18/07/2016 10:51

I've very satisfied with Über- you get a text with the drivers details and can also send your journey details to a friend. My teenager DDs have used them dozens of times Hmm with no problems.

AuntDotsie · 18/07/2016 12:03

I live in a Manchester suburb and there's one green cab here with an almost naked woman on the side too. I never, ever use it.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 18/07/2016 13:22

There was a thread recently about this. Can't recall if it was FWR or AIBU.

Write to the company saying you will never take their taxis and submit a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority. You can do it online.

I would be happy to but as I'm not in Manchester and haven't seen this it might not carry much weight.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 18/07/2016 13:24

Oh and I agree complain to the Council 's licensing department.

iremembericod · 18/07/2016 14:16

It's grim

I also am furious that I have porn channels on my tv that I cannot get rid of, ever so nicely titled 'Adult', which more accurately be titled 'Objectification of women'

Waitingfordolly · 18/07/2016 14:39

That's terrible. I hate getting into cabs anyway as I was once groped in one by the driver (well private hire but it's still made me nervous of any type of taxi). This is hardly going to encourage women to feel safe travelling.

If you have a smart TV you can make a list of favourite channels.
Add every channel apart from the adult ones, and any others you don't want to ever see.
In the Guide, choose, view favourites and you'll never see them.

grimbletart · 18/07/2016 17:10

Never could figure the reasoning behind labelling channels 'adult' when the sort of people who view this stuff tend to stuck in an eternal state of adolescence.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 18/07/2016 21:20

I've wondered that too.

OP please write to the company, the Council and the ASA. You are preaching to the converted here

JessE123 · 10/08/2016 18:48

Are those cabs with those adverts still going around town?
