Porn in Public! Manchester Adverts for Porn Site

Hi all,

I'm not sue if anyone else has seen this, but there is porn advertised on the side of taxis in Manchester at the moment! Here's some pictures I found of them from the company's twitter.

Now, I'm not a prude, but these images are in public, children see them! There's girl is on the side of the taxi and it says "she's only a click away" (how degrading) and the website advertised goes to their porn site, live girls and guys naked you can talk to!

If any child sees that website advertised and goes on there, they are going to see naked images and be able to chat with naked porn stars!

Am I too old fashioned? Is this acceptable now?

I think that is way too far tbh.
People may disagree but the fact that children are exposed to this stuff is out of line. If it was on a poster at a club or whatever then it can be excused I guess.

DoesAnyoneReadTheseThings · 21/06/2016 14:09

Fucking hell! That's not ok

redshoeblueshoe · 21/06/2016 14:16

Whoops I just replied to your post on the local board, I hadn't realised it was you that started this thread Blush

It is not OK.

I will be contacting my local MP

PalmerViolet · 21/06/2016 14:17

Grim.

And sexist.

scallopsrgreat · 21/06/2016 14:27

No. Not OK. I don't want my children seeing women paraded as an interchangeable commodity but also I don't want to see it either.

MephistophelesApprentice · 21/06/2016 14:30

I'm hardly anti-porn, but there's such a thing as appropriate time and place.

supersoftcuddlytoys · 21/06/2016 16:07

I agree with Mephistophele I'm pro porn' as well, but this is wrong..

Blistory · 21/06/2016 18:25

pro porn

Now there's a phrase that jars......

PalmerViolet · 21/06/2016 18:56

Pro-porn = pro men watching women being raped and harmed in sexual violence, while masturbating.

So that's odd.

WellErrr · 21/06/2016 18:58

I don't want my children seeing women paraded as an interchangeable commodity but also I don't want to see it either.

Same here.

It's disgraceful.

SpaceKablooie · 21/06/2016 19:01

Bloody hell, that's awful.

becks1981 · 21/06/2016 19:47

Hi,

I have lived in Manchester my entire life, this is the limit. Who possibly could have approved this campaign? If you are a journalist or a politician, please act now?

I am disappointed in our city...

dudsville · 21/06/2016 19:49

That's shocking. And the click away comment is frightening.

Notbigandnotclever · 21/06/2016 19:52

My username is apt for this. I am local enough to Manchester to kick up some fuss and I will. I don't want my kids being brought up to think this is acceptable or normal.

SpaceKablooie · 21/06/2016 20:01

So, does anyone know what we can actually do about this? Who can we complain to - the city council (as they license taxis), the taxi company, MPs...?

gemmamyers1983 · 21/06/2016 21:04

My son could go on this site after seeing the website advertised on the side of a taxi in the day and actually talk with naked women from all over the world! He's 11!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/06/2016 21:48

Utterly inappropriate. If you are in Manchester complain to the Council as licensing authority and let the taxi company know you will not use them.

JennyBunn · 21/06/2016 21:52

Dear God, that's appalling. There's no way I'd be getting in a taxi (especially not with 2 young DD's in tow) with that plastered all over it.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/06/2016 21:53

I would not get in a taxi with those adverts on it.

MichaelGovesGlasses · 21/06/2016 22:00

Was it in central Manchester?

PalmerViolet · 21/06/2016 22:01

Here is a link to make a complaint Link

And here is a list of local councillors for Manchester City Council Link

And finally, a list of all Manchester MPs Link

Have at them Grin

PalmerViolet · 21/06/2016 22:02

I probably wouldn't bother with Chris Green MP though, a) he's from Bolton and b) he's not keen on women's rights.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/06/2016 22:16

Advertising Standards Authority. I don't know if it is in their remit - is it a display or banner ad? Probably. Worth trying anyway.

WomanWithAltitude · 21/06/2016 22:18

Totally agree op. It's grim, and not ok. Women as commodities, ugh.

Mrstumbletap · 22/06/2016 09:44

That's awful, people from Machester get it stopped! And then let us know if they listen.
