Sorry I can't link but it's on the BBC site.

OP posts:

Can we say he was convicted of rape, but it was overturned due to a frankly rubbish retrial that showed no new evidence whatsoever? Hmm

11122aa · 14/10/2016 15:17

Actually i dont think you would be.
Id ignore the mail comments page. A strange type of person comments there.

AyeAmarok · 14/10/2016 15:17

Disgusted.

Was completely expecting it but still feel like I've been punched in the gut. So can't even comprehend how the victim must be feeling.

JustWoman · 14/10/2016 15:17

It's a fucking disgrace.
I want to cry.

11122aa · 14/10/2016 15:19

Anyway the court of appeal is supposed ( per their April announcement) of posting why they granted a retrial ( the full judgement like any other case. Usually they quite detailed and explain why)>

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 15:20

I'm just glad the fucker at least went to prison for a couple of years. I hope it was shit.

venusinscorpio · 14/10/2016 15:21

Yes I was looking for that. There was quite a detailed breakdown of the previous failed appeal.

Dervel · 14/10/2016 15:21

Ok civil case it is then! Seeing as it is really too easy to get away with rape in a criminal case, could a legal aid charity be set up to at least nail rapists in the civil courts? Once criminal trails have failed of course.

JenLindleyShitMom · 14/10/2016 15:21

Thanks woman and dancingbear

AnyFucker · 14/10/2016 15:22

Nothing more to say.

So now we are faced with what was always the case yet again. If you have sex with one man, you are in a permanent state of consent for anybody else who fancies a go.

No big surprises there.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 14/10/2016 15:22

I do usually

When trawling for info over the last few weeks i noticed that they had closed the comments

As soon as the verdict came in they opened it

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 14/10/2016 15:22

Aaach well

I only ever used my dads copy to clear up tortoise shit anyway

Dervel · 14/10/2016 15:23

Ok it would have to be a civil case then. Could there not be a legal aid charity setup to bail rapists in civil court when the criminal justice system fails?

Valanice1989 · 14/10/2016 15:23

I'm just going to avoid social media for today. Too depressing.

I didn't follow the first trial closely. When his conviction was quashed and it was announced that "new evidence" had come to light, I was open to the possibility that maybe he had been falsely accused after all. I don't know much about the legal system and was under the impression that it takes fairly robust evidence to overturn a guilty verdict. But the "new evidence" appears to be that she had consensual sex with someone else at another time. I don't really know what to say to that.

It sounds awful, but she would have been much better off if this case had never gone to court in the first place.

Dervel · 14/10/2016 15:23

Sorry nail rapists not bail! That would disastrous!!

category12 · 14/10/2016 15:24

Oh well, we are all unrapeable now. Sad

11122aa · 14/10/2016 15:25

Newspapers always close comments during criminal trials for legal reasons.

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 14/10/2016 15:25

Is this literally what it's boiled down to? Consent to one man equals consent to all? Well, that's women fucking told isn't it

This with fucking bells on!

What happened to the Tea Analogy?

GingerIvy · 14/10/2016 15:26

Good god, do not read the comments on DM. Bloody hundreds of people banging on and on about the "dirty slapper that lied" and "she should be prosecuted" and "he deserves a payout, he did nothing wrong."

FFS. It's depressing to see the level of ignorance displayed.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 14/10/2016 15:27

11122

Oh i see

AnyFucker · 14/10/2016 15:28

I really do despair of the human race sometimes. This woman never even made a complaint of rape in the first place.

GiveMeRitz · 14/10/2016 15:28

So the takehome message here is Women never show signs of enjoying sex ever because God forbid you get raped all its needs to get him off is to find that one statment

GingerIvy · 14/10/2016 15:28

Exit
What happened to the Tea Analogy?

Apparently it's an open bar now so men can help themselves. Hmm

Spookybitch · 14/10/2016 15:28

The thought that keeps going round my brain is that it's Friday night. Loads of women are going to go out on the town tonight and some of them are going to get raped and they will have this verdict in their heads and they will know that there will be no justice.

As a minor starting point, I will no longer buy or watch any publications or TV shows which feature either Ched Evans or Natasha Massey. Because the deluge of positive publicity is coming, and it's going to be horrible.

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 14/10/2016 15:28

Actually, just checked the Tea Analogy and there is no mention of sharing a brew with someone else.

Maybe it needs an addition.
