Would I be unreasonable to send them a polite email explaining what is wrong with it?

I can't see on a phone what is "wrong" with it but as it is the work of an 11 year old girl ,who is probably very proud of it ,if I were you I would pass on the opportunity of scoring some feminist point at her picture.

It is more evidence of gender-conforming indoctrination in young children, learned at school, at home and through materialism, which always leads to sexist thinking in adults.

It is yet another example and OP is right to be conserned.

Indeed it is concerning, but I doubt there's much productive action to be taken.

Calmac didn't have to pick it as the winner, did they.

Hate the game, not the player - it's not the child's fault. I think Calmac should have thought about this a bit more carefully though.

This is similar to another competition winning entry that I saw recently. It was a really good entry, but the feminist in me was really cross!
