Hmm

This was a FB comment from a Carl Frampton supporter.

You've just gone 12 rounds and been named world champion at something you've dedicated years of your life to.

But congratulations on someone else's appearance.

What the fuck does his wife's appearance have to do with Carl Frampton? Why is that something that he is being praised for?

I know it is tiny in the grand scheme of things but this really pissed me off today for some reason. Feel free to ignore. Just felt like i needed to get that out.

Which, in turn makes the assumption that women are attracted to money and power. Is this the case?

itllallbefine · 01/03/2016 16:26

yep.

PalmerViolet · 01/03/2016 16:33

Agree with Happy.

Cleebope · 01/03/2016 18:41

If u want a discussion you have to accept different opinions and not tell me to clear off the thread! I hate over reaction to innocuous comments. This is what gives feminism a bad name (in my opinion). Some battles are worth picking and this is not one of them(in my opinion) . I still call myself a feminist (in my opinion) but not a 'feminazi' (in my opinion). I can respect your point of view but still think you need to lighten up OP (in my opinion). And anyway I bet Carl's wife has massively helped him to achieve his success.

PosieReturningParker · 01/03/2016 18:50

Having just visited the topology of terror featuring a photographic exhibition by Jewish photographers in the ghetto I conclude that anyone who uses the term Feminazi is a cunt.

The evil inflicted on people by the nazis makes "nazi" off limits to word blend with feminism, a movement to liberate women.

This is feminist chat, not activism, chat. For some that's light hearted, little annoyances or deeply troubling sort of chat.

PalmerViolet · 01/03/2016 19:10

How would you define feminazi then Clee?

Just so I know that what I'm fighting for isn't as bad as say... genocide of European Jewry? Or Roma? Or the wholesale murder of people with MH problems or disabilities?

I'm all ears.

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 19:14

cleebope you werent told to clear off the thread. You indicated the thread wasnt necesary, and that i was taking this issue too seriously and should lighten up. I suggested if you felt like that you could ignore the thread.

Feminazi is a fucking appalling term to use and expresses a clear ignorance wrt things that cause offence. That coupled with your last sentence indicates very strongly that you actually dont understand what point i was making at all. It is nothing at all to do with carl frampton's wife and her contribution to his life.

OP posts:
Chocolatteaddict1 · 01/03/2016 19:22

Well I When I meet Dh he had a beat up transit van do I wasn't attracted to his wealth Grin

cleebope I actually agree with your post. I think sometimes folk are just looking for anything that can be pulled apart.

feminazi
ˈfɛmɪnɑːtsi/
noun derogatory
a radical feminist.

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 19:24

You do actually know what a nazi was? Its not just another word for radical! Ugh ignorance.

OP posts:
Chocolatteaddict1 · 01/03/2016 19:37

Yes I do rude

palmer asked a poster to define feminazi

I think people do understand your post but just have a difference of opinion or don't agree and your getting angry and frustrated. Which comes across in most of your posts when it's such a non frothy topic to get your knickers in a twist over

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 19:41

I think people do understand your post but just have a difference of opinion or don't agree

cleebope clearly doesnt. It is very evident in her comment

"And anyway I bet Carl's wife has massively helped him acheive his success"

My post and issue is nothing to do with carl frampton's wife.

OP posts:
PalmerViolet · 01/03/2016 19:55

Well, I suppose you at least admit it's derogatory.

Shame you don't know what the radical means.

And it's feminazi as a portmanteau of feminist and nazi, so stop being disingenuous.

Insinuating that radical feminists are in some way comparable to nazis is frankly, pathetic and displays a lack of logic and rationality. And integrity.

Chocolatteaddict1 · 01/03/2016 20:17

But essentially it was about Carl Framtons wife. It was about a comment made about her. It's why you go so pissed off.

palmer I'm not insinuating anything. You asked for a definition of it so don't start frothing when some one gives you one.

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 20:22

No it was the comment that i have an issue with. Not who it was about. It could have been about anyone. My posts are not saying anything about CF or his wife. It is about the comment made by someone that just happens to be addressed to CF about his wife.

OP posts:
Chocolatteaddict1 · 01/03/2016 20:30

Go and read your first post elf if they are not about CF and his wife then who are they about because you name him twice and his wife once and that's just your first one

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 20:54

I really cant see how this needs explaining. Confused

Yes, CF is mentioned because that is the context in which the comment was made. I suppose i could have just said "unnamed celebrity and wife" but either way this thread is not about CF and his wife. I am making no judgement on his wife's appearance or her contribution to his life and succes or whether she is a trophy wife or not. This is not about CF and wife. This is about that comment and the oddness of it. It would be as odd if it were about my neighbour next door or anyone else.

PosieReturningParker · 01/03/2016 21:37

Frothing....

Chocolate. What's your intention with this word?

PosieReturningParker · 01/03/2016 21:38

Rude.

Whilst you're explaining this to chocolate I suggest you try and balance treacle on an upside down hot spoon.... Both are as useful.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/03/2016 21:46

I'm with you rude and I'm mightily tired of being told, by other women no less, that the little things don't matter.

They do. They do fucking matter. Because if you don't challenge the little things then they escalate and add up into bigger things.

Which to continue with the Nazi theme is how the Nazi's managed to get a foothold in Germany, because people ignored what was going on when it was happening to others. Because, y'know, those being targeted initially just needed to lighten up and stop making such a big deal out of little things. Like, who could a painted swastika hurt anyway?

Cleebope · 01/03/2016 21:47

Right, I thought I would have a look at the feminist forum and now I'm sorry I did. I follow CF so this one interested me. Obviously the 'feminazi' term is an emotive one and I am not politically correct enough for this forum so I will butt out and leave you feminists to contemplate your own navels ( considers never calling myself a 'feminist' again.)

LilacSpunkMonkey · 01/03/2016 21:51

Oh, and now the tired old 'politically correct' line gets trotted out.

People who say others are 'too PC' are basically saying 'you're not allowing me to be offensive and I want to'.

It's such a cliché. How embarrassing.

RudeElf · 01/03/2016 21:52

Well thats a pity cleebope because i think it sounds like you could do with spending a bit more time in this forum.

You're not, "not politically correct" you are deliberately offensive.

Again, my post had nothing to do with CF. your offence at my thread seems to have stemmed from your misunderstanding of the issue that you have interpretted as a judgement on him and his wife.
