CPD session today run by total prat

God I'm livid.

I had to go on teacher training today. Two speakers - both male. First guy was absolutely the most inspiring education professional I've ever met.

Second guy was an actual pig. According to him, boys fail in education because women teachers knock the boisterousness out of them and make them do "projects" which boys "hate." (All boys? Who knows.) YOU HAVE A DUTY, he informed us, to link your maths teaching to football league tables, minecraft, etc.

Then, bizarrely, he gave out a few stuffed toys including one stuffed chicken he called "the cock of cleverness." "Don't rub it!" he ordered the embarrassed woman holding it. Just why??

God, there's not even any point to my ramble, and I probably should have posted this in Education, but fucking hell!

That sounds like shit and must have been utterly cringeworthy.

Blimey, he sounds awful. Can you complain to anyone - did he come from an external organisation? The comment about the rubber chicken is actually completely inappropriate.

Well, he was there to speak to our whole cluster of schools and amusingly, in the break, all the heads approached him and asked him to remove the smut from the second half. He was one of those utter educational frauds; you got a distinct sense he'd never actually achieved these marvellous things himself, and that probably the kids laughed at someone so obviously trying to "be cool." Even worse, and I swear on my cats' lives this is true, one of his slides was entitled "connecting wiv kidz."

Oh and he made about eight million jokes about chocolate being a special food group for teachers (choc jokes always appreciated by wimmin.)

He sounds like a complete clown shoe.

I suspect the schools will share notes on him and not reinvite him.
