You should inform your daughter that the word "patriarchy" is an antiquated term that has undergone much reform in recent decades. Whereas it used to accurately describe a societal structure in which women were subjugated and denied basic rights and liberties, it is now used as a way of overly simplifying a complex set of deeply complex issues by attributing them to the (false) existence of a society that denigrates women.

I should, eh? Thank you for the advice but, as you will probably have anticipated, I don't agree.
