I'm a liberal feminist. I am a feminist, but I am not anti-capitalism. I think capitalism has done far more for women on a practical level than socialism and women in the west are far healthier, wealthier and have greater self determination than women in socialist countries.

Sorry, not light hearted, but a poster earlier was interested in us lib fem types. Now, can I have a vulva cupcake?

PlaysWellWithOthers · 20/11/2015 19:45

Cupcakes have all gone, I'm afraid.

Will the banana bread I'm baking do?

VestalVirgin · 20/11/2015 19:49

@what: If I look at Germany, I have to say, women in the East did have some things better than in the West - like childcare, and there are still more female bosses than in the West.

That said, they didn't have bananas there. Grin

So no banana bread in the East? Another shining win for capitalism Grin

Well I believe in responsible capitalism and I'm certainly not a lib fem type.

I used to make angel cakes and to do this you had cake wings on the side of the top of the bun, with a dash of cream down the middle. I always put a cherry at the top too. Don't worry, my daughters loved doing this. Those little cakes were things of beauty!

VestalVirgin · 20/11/2015 20:36

@what: To be fair, that was probably because East Germany was rather isolated and they didn't have trade connections to countries that sold bananas. Many of the things that were bad about living in East Germany were due to it boycotting capitalist states.

@Elendon: Responsible capitalism being the kind of capitalism that is controlled by the government? Because I must say, I don't really believe in capitalism regulating itself.

Hmm, I came out liberal feminist at 42, then cultural feminist and women of Color both 38; then rad fem 37 etc

I actually had to look up what a cultural feminist is. I need to read a bit more and reflect on this. If it means women have different needs than what is currently seen as the (male) norm, then yes, but I am not sure that is what it does mean

BeyondThirty · 27/11/2015 12:27

I come out as radical/environmental

I do own six pairs of docs :)
none of them the vegan ones though
