It's a MIRACLE!!!

Guess what. Apparently, the miracle cure for period pains is, of course... [drum roll]

...PINK packaging!

How did we not think of this before now?

Hmm
It's a MIRACLE!!!

And have you seen the prices?

The same drugs in the white/blue/own brand packaging are about 23p.

VestalVirgin · 12/11/2015 18:33

Oh. I thought it was magnesium. Or maybe estrogen-reducing plant drugs.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the white package and wrap it in pink at home if pink packaging is such a miraculous cure?

LineyReborn · 12/11/2015 18:45

They're just over the counter painkillers. In pink.

WhatTheActualFugg · 12/11/2015 19:52

TBH I'm struggling to imagine how this even became A Thing.

Pharmaceutical Marketing Team Meeting

Boss: Turnover is down 5% on this time last year. People aren't sick enough. What guaranteed pain can we rely on to rip people off with our extortionate prices?
Marketing Associate: Period pain is pretty guaranteed. Happens every month, to millions of women. It's not at all seasonal.
Boss: Genius! How can we make sure all these women buy our drugs?
Intern: [jokes] We should put them in pink boxes.
Boss: Genius! You're promoted, Intern.

And at no point does anyone say "don't be so FUCKING RIDICULOUS YOU ARSEHOLE!"

Where were the women in this meeting? That's what I'd like to know.

Wouldn't there have to have been women so that the men even think about period pain? I doubt it's something they could come up with by themselves.

And I fear women fall for it. If they didn't, it would be off the market in a couple of months.

WhatTheActualFugg · 12/11/2015 20:00

Vestal, I can't allow myself to believe any women were involved in this. It's just too painful.

I suggest they add one for footballing sprains in manly camouflage green.

Then one might market Calpol in pink and blue, that should double turnover, can't use SparklePol for ds, must have BlokePol and vice versa.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 12/11/2015 21:43

The problem is that a lot of people don't read the active ingredients lists on the boxes, so, while you can buy 12 ibuprofen for 20p odd, if you're in the middle of hideous cramping awfulness, you will grab at the box that says it's for period pains, even though it's only ibuprofen as well.

Plus, of course, if you bought tablets for period pain in a blue box, your uterus would almost certainly fall out.

reni2 · 12/11/2015 21:46

It might protect many packs of period pain relief (ie ibuprofen) from the men in the house, so it might have been a woman's idea after all.

VestalVirgin · 12/11/2015 21:57

reni2, but not if it is so much more expensive.

@Plays, well, that would solve the problem forever, right?

PlaysWellWithOthers · 12/11/2015 22:11

This last month, it would certainly have made me a happier camper.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2015 22:35

When I shared a mixed-gender flat, I bought one pink pack and used it to keep normal painkillers in. That way my male flat mates wouldn't pinch them when they had a hangover, in case they caught girl.

Take that, patriarchy!

VestalVirgin · 12/11/2015 22:39

Lonny, clever. If you can re-use it often enough, it might actually be worth the price. (That said, if a man stole painkillers I needed for my period, I might get violent. What are such men even thinking?)

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2015 22:50

Applicator tampon boxes also v handy for keeping a couple of cigs tucked away for the end of the night/end of the wages. Other female flat mate apparently kept her dope in with her thrush cream Grin

Of course, the safest hiding place would have been beside the cleaning products...

RufusTheReindeer · 12/11/2015 22:56

I saw this in the supermarket and used it as a learning opportunity for 13 year old dd

I'm not sure it sank in...i think she may have been distracted by the pink

EBearhug · 13/11/2015 20:48

The Feminax which contains naproxen comes in a blue box. At least, it did in September when I last bought some.

As far as I can tell the difference between the normal one and the period one is that the normal one is 24p cheaper and 28% stronger.
