Dr Foster - terrible ending!

Did anyone else think that the conclusion to the Dr Foster series was totally unsatisfying?! I was so mad that, only in the last 20 minutes, they referenced the topics of:

  • working mums trying to balance working and family life
  • domestic violence
  • reasons for partners being unfaithful
and didn't properly address them. I was left feeling that the program advocated Simon's infidelity because Gemma had been so busy working; and that her son rightly held the notion that his dad had an affair because his mum was so busy working. And to top it all off, maybe she was going back to work but possibly she'd done the 'right thing' by giving up work. I had high hopes for this program but I feel like it really let down women in the end.

It was a badly written series full of clunking dialogue and ,apart from Suzanne Jones, badly acted although despite its faults was very watchable. Reading anything more into it is pointless.

Don't forget the message that the way to make your marriage work is to accept his serial cheating.

The only positive bit was at the end when you could see her son finally respecting her for her life-saving skills.
