Women do it too.

I'm feeling somewhat frustrated because I've just been talking to a friend about why that idiot felt the need to hack mumsnet and when I linked it to the wider issue of men (NAMALT) silencing women talking together online, her immediate response was "women hack just as much as men".

Similarly in the past when, for example, a newsworthy sex abuse/rape/DV/murder has been a topic of conversation there is always one who points out that women also abuse/rape/hit/murder.

Just like "Not all men" I find it incredibly derailing and am never sure how to respond to it without sounding like I completely hate men.

Sorry just wanted to vent.

For every seven victims of domestic violence, four will be women, three will be men.

The oft quoted 'two women are killed by men a week' is inaccurate, it is less.

One man is killed per week by a woman.

Family annihilator perpetrators are equally women and men.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 01:08

Incorrect I'm afraid

jsommer7345 · 20/08/2015 05:54

How about nobody hacks? Why make this an equal gender thing when it is illegal and negative.

BudgeUp · 20/08/2015 07:36

I mean don't get me wrong. I'm not under any illusion that women are angels. They are, like all humans, diverse in their personalities, opinions and actions...

But Sonny, if you are correct then there has to be one hell of a cover up going on. When I turn the TV on in the morning it is rare to hear of a woman killing/raping a man. The other way round yes, that is a normal news day. Now I'm willing to believe that is a huge cover up if you could supply me with 1) credible evidence from established organisations 2) a reason.

What would the reason to cover up such an enormous amount of female crime? Because as far as I can see whenever a woman does kill a man it is very widely reported, analysed and commented on by the media.

I am sympathetic to you if you're a man because the imbalance in the gender of perpetrators of crime must make you feel uncomfortable. But no one is asking you to feel uncomfortable about it, just to not deny it exists.

Does that make sense?

Oh grow up sonny - those 'statistics' only exist in your own small head.

G1veMeStrength · 20/08/2015 08:24

Shit, am I getting it wrong? I murder men with a flutter of my eyelashes and hide their bodies in my cleavage. I thought we all did?

CheezyBlasters · 20/08/2015 08:47

I believe it is the case that women are more likely to be imprisoned for less serious offences. I just googled to see if I was correct and there is a site called rethinking crime and punishment that confirms this.

IamTheWhoreofBabylon · 20/08/2015 08:48

All the female murders must be highly intelligent to hide the bodies and erase lives so well
Its almost like the crimes have never happened

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 08:52

Stop posting facts, ya big FWR meanies!

Wink
passmethewineplease · 20/08/2015 09:05

Sorry I have to laugh at all these beautiful women murdering people and literally nothing being heard or said about it.

You just cannot have the conversation about violence against women without someone saying yeah but women can abuse too. I don't understand why they can't be delegate issues, when you merge them it feels like it is minimising male on female abuse.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/08/2015 09:26

Wineplease, stop talking sense. I warned you once and now I'm gojng to have to strafe you with bullets. From my tit guns, of course.

BreakingDad77 · 20/08/2015 09:36

Its just petty an unfortunately they (media) will often get a female doc to back up this 'science' to feed mens 'logic' argument. (it actually grates now when I see a guy posting his 'logic')

Im sure some pets have attacked there owners but to somehow argues that this equates with all the pets abused/harmed by their owners would seem bonkers.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 20/08/2015 09:57

Gosh, it's almost like these men have a bit of a grudge against women, especially perty ones.

Disregarder · 20/08/2015 12:28

"Given that men 'control' just about every facet of society" what a load of anti-male crap that was. I can't believe that in the 21st century we still have people determined to play victim and pretend they don't have equality. Bonus points to the people who say that women have more right to be afraid of men than the other way around because "more men are violent than women", you couldn't make this crap up.

MaillotRojoPan · 20/08/2015 13:23

Disregarder - if you have a look around you'll see to what extent the 'ropes of life' are under the control of the male of the sexes. IF you disagree maybe you could provide some evidence at all i.e. where there is a female domination? There may be some but few and far between. And it's a bit concerning that you can achieve adult hood and not grasp the dynamics and incidence of violence in society.

And as I am possessor of a very fine Y-chromosome I don't fit the 'play victim' bit either.

JeffhasAMicroPenis · 20/08/2015 14:23

I've killed three men today slow day at the office . Truefact.

Circumcised a few baby boys for fun too.

scalliondays · 20/08/2015 14:23

Disregarder - do you seriously believe that men as an entity are not way more violent than women? Why would you think this?

SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch · 20/08/2015 15:08

Out of seven cases of dv four victims will be women and three will be men? One man a week is killed by a woman?

I call bullshit.

Who on earth is protecting these women? It's those women judges letting them all off to protect the sisterhood isn't it? Jeez, that 25% really let the others down.

sonnyson12 · 20/08/2015 22:07

A

Women do it too.
AskBasil · 20/08/2015 22:17

That chart's bollocks Sonny. It's made up figures, the reference quoted doesn't exist.

ONS reference

sonnyson12 · 20/08/2015 22:18

A previous poster, perhaps not on this thread, suggested that they never hear of any act of violence upon a male. This week alone, a man had his genitalia set on fire and another man survive a hit and run murder attempt.

I am not trying to diminish male on female violence, I am a Father that has gone to great lengths to ensure that my daughter is well equipped to protect herself. I'm more concerned about female violence toward her.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 20/08/2015 22:19

Something I've also noticed is that people who like to turn the tables always use 'facts'* about victims completely disregarding the figures for the perpetrators.
For example if the seven dv victims were true, what it doesn't say is that out of those three male victims the abuser will be male for two of them.

*true or normally untrue

sonnyson12 · 20/08/2015 22:20

It does, your link doesn't.

AskBasil · 20/08/2015 22:24

No, I used the reference given in your link and it doesn't exist.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 20/08/2015 22:26

Basil posted the link taken from your 'informative' picture. It doesn't exist.

The victims of male violence are mostly men. Men harm and kill men in huge numbers all round the world. They all harm and kill women in huge numbers all round the world. Women harm and kill in small numbers, hence those cases being publicised. Because they are out of the ordinary.

I think it might be pointless wasting my time telling you this, because you won't deal too well with facts. Shame.
