Finding a local feminist group?

I've become more interested in feminism in recent years, and while I enjoy arguing on the internet as much as the next woman it doesn't really beat meeting actual real life people. But how do I go about finding active local groups?

Facebook? I've a member of a few great networks on fab.

I too would love to join an actual physical group too.

I've tried to join a London feminist group twice now - you have to apply to a closed yahoo group. Both times I was rejected by passage of time though it seems the group is still active.

If you say roughly where you are , someone on here might know. But I understand if you would rather not.
UK Feminista used to have a listing. Tbh though I would just Google the hell out of it- most real life groups have some kind of online presence. If there are any that don't, they might advertise in your local library.

Then you're in luck! Bristol Feminist Network is active.

BeCool there were issues 3 or 4 years ago with Yahoo Groups when the pro striptease blog became a member or had a member inside Object's yahoo group and they published screen shots of messages that were meant to be seen only by the group, because of the nature of messages there was never a verbal response. After that a lot of the London oriented yahoo groups became aware of the risks and last I heard was the tended only to accept people that are known to others IRL.

I don't know any feminist group members IRL though. So I guess I'm screwed!
