I'm ashamed to say I know far too little about the women's suffrage movement, I'd like to become more educated about it. Can anyone recommend any reading material for a beginner please?

Have you been watching the Amanda Vickery series on BBC2?

I caught a small part of it this week, that's mostly what made me think I really ought to learn more. I'd rather have something to read ideally

Try "rebel girls"

Votes for Women: The Virago Book of Suffragettes edited by Joyce Marlow is good, as is Margaret Forster's Significant Sisters.
