The under-representaton of women in decision making roles within sport organisations!

Why do you think there is a current under-representation of female decision makers within sports organisations?

Is gender equality a positive or negative quality in the boardroom?

Do you think the current government gender based quota of achieving at least 25% female representation on sport governing boards by 2017 is currently being acknowledged and abided by within organisations?

Do you think government gender based quotas help or hinder female career progress within the sports industry? Why?

What strategies would you recommend to human resource departments and/or the government, in order to improve female representation within sport organisations?

Thank you so much for your time. I am trying to implement change management recommendations.

Gender equality is positive in ANY situation not just in recruitment.

Female decision makers are unrepresented because in sport the majority of leaders and recruiters are male, maybe there is a lack of applications from females but there should be an active drive to advertise and recruit more women in male dominated industries.

I think quotas will help but I think more can be done to enforce it. I think interview feedback should be recorded for statistics tracking and change management. Obviously you have to pick the right person for the job but I also think diversity, transparancy and integrity is always good for the reputation, employer branding and marketing image of any company. Every Company should aim to be "a great company to work for".

I think strategies should be devised based on the type of person and skills they are looking for, then look at building a balanced team of male and female employees that have the desired cultural fit!

I would like to thank you all, already I have some very brilliant response's to questions.

I forgot to mention that this is for my dissertation project at university!

@TheBlackRider: Hi there, I'm asking this question since it is the same question I am asking to all sample groups for my dissertation project. As you can imagine, this question in particular can draw out some particularly interesting findings.

Sophia, sporting bodies are aware and are working on this (in the main, let's exclude FIFA...) by advertising with women focussed recruitment firms etc.
