Hi, is anyone going to MWR in London on 7 March from the north (above South Yorkshire). I am trying to get a lift and if anyone is going down there I would be happy to meet them in a service area of their choice and pay towards travelling costs. Sorry if this sounds cheeky but there is no one at all from my area and I have tried contacting others from the MWR website to no avail and I am desperate to go.

Thanks.

My apologies is this comes across as arsey, but it's a bad idea to get into a car with someone who makes or responds to a post on an open internet site. Whatever the event you're trying to get to.

It's getting close to the time, but (on the assumption that if you can get to a service station you can get to a town) it might be worth looking to see if there are still any cheap rail deals (try the very early morning trains) or coach seats.

MsPoodleLover · 24/02/2015 07:38

Dont worry, it doesnt sound arsey, I think patronising is the word you were looking for.

I am in my late 50s and have done a good job so far at looking after my own safety but thanks

My apologies.

I simply didn't know your age, attitude, or indeed anything else about you.

(And of course the reason I referred to both those making and those responding to the post because I hadn't excluded the possibility that you were the potential attacker).

There's usually a coach from Bradford - is that too far north? It's through rape crisis, I think.

ArcheryAnnie · 27/02/2015 19:05

I was going to suggest a Bradford coach, too - they've usually sent at least one to Million Women Rise.

Hang on - - here it is:

Get on board the Bradford coach:

For info & bookings: contact Saba Getty Musiiwa 07577895241 or jane Gregory 07931934422. Booking form attached.

Coach departure point: Old Building, Bradford College, Great Horton Road, Bradford.
Departure time: 7:00am prompt.
Return journey: Pick up near the Embankment, London at 5.00pm

Cost: Tickets are £10 for waged women & students.

We have free places for girls & young women not working, women on benefits, women with no recourse to public funds, women with no income for other reasons and women who just can’t afford a ticket. Please contact the organisers

This year the tickets for the coach are heavily subsidised by a donation so we will take a collection on the coach and welcome donations for the cost of the rally and march. Million Women Rise is a totally unfunded organisation – but don’t stress if you can’t afford it.

Bumping this to see if anyone else is going to march in London tomorrow?

My DC are with XP for the weekend, so I'm thinking of going, but I don't know anyone else who is. Anyone fancy meeting up?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 06/03/2015 12:55

I'm not able to go this year but I really really recommend you going. If you look out for the london feminist network banner they're a friendly bunch (it's purple).
I've often ended up chatting to women who've come on their own - it's such a great atmosphere.
I hope someone more useful replies though.

BeCool · 06/03/2015 13:00

Thanks Super - that is what I am thinking.
I'm on LFB facebook but I've net seen any mention of the march on there or where they are meeting. I'll take another look.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 07/03/2015 09:55

Just in case you check this, it's 12.45 outside Selfridges.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 07/03/2015 09:59

Have a great time, everyone who goes!

BeCool · 07/03/2015 11:50

I'm off!

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/03/2015 13:11

So jealous of everyone going. I'm working for a change.

Hope you all have an absolute ball!

BertieBotts · 07/03/2015 18:50

I was hoping to come but it didn't work out. Hope the march went well! :)
