Have you heard about David Osborne's blog?

LillyEvans · 07/02/2015 21:58

David is a barrister who cares deeply for "red blooded males" and the blog that's made the news is called "She's gagging for it".

You can probably guess what it's about. He also manages to throw in a bit about why he thinks the title Ms is insulting.

It looks like he has a few other interesting posts on there too.Hmm

OP posts:

His 'clarification' just shows how pathetically unthought through his 'argument' was.

He's just one of those dudes used to talking and not listening, and one who doesn't really think things through. Cos he's never needed to. People don't challenge him.

Bet he's got a really loud obnoxious voice, dominating conversations with his oh so important opinions.

Literally repulsive.

Anonynonny · 08/02/2015 21:53

But he's unfortunately probably not an anomaly. I imagine that one of the reasons the rape conviction rate is so low, is because so many lawyers have the same opinions as him.

DeliciousIrony · 09/02/2015 10:41

Has his original post been edited since yesterday? I'm sure there are some bits missing now.

I noticed he keeps saying "red-bloodIED" males, rather than 'blooded', which ironically would imply a bit more perpetrator responsibility than he seems to think they have.

He also, surprise surprise, blames political-correctness-gorn-mad for the evils of the world, and is disparaging about immigrants and the possibility of social integration:
"I have never lived in an urban conglomerate with ethnic minorities at my doorstep, so I don’t know how I would react to the overpowering smell of curry and the screams of animals being butchered alive in the back garden..." Confused

It's never occurred to me that somebody could be genuinely angry that juries no longer consists solely of property-owning men over the age of 21. But then I also didn't think that anyone could be so irritated over the use of 'ms'. Perhaps naive of me.

He seems to have some really nasty prejudices, particularly towards women. I would hate to have to be in a courtroom with him.

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 09/02/2015 10:47

Yes, it's been edited, DI.

DeliciousIrony · 09/02/2015 10:48

Ah, thought so. The comments make depressing reading, as well.

www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/update/2015-02-09/man-jailed-after-newcastle-rape/

This is a shocking case of a man who took a drunk teenager to his home under the pretext of helping her and then raped her.

Interestingly he pleaded guilty to rape (jailed for 6 years). Under the odious David Osborne's definition of rape presumably he would be considered not guilty despite his plea. Would Osborne insist he change his plea to not guilty?

Just shows what a cockwomble Osborne is.

The Daily Mail has more details but I'm not linking it….

Anonynonny · 09/02/2015 18:07

I notice that one of the commentators on the thread was Ciaran Goggins, that bloke who spends half his time trying to out feminists on the internet. He seems to have a huge vested interest in promoting the idea of women having no right to bodily integrity. Can't think why Hmm

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 09/02/2015 18:14

Oh he's written a follow up piece, the Twatchops.

I notice he's deleted all but one comment that disagreed with him.

LadyBlaBlah · 09/02/2015 19:22

I can only come to the conclusion that he must be a rapist himself since he is so adamant in defending rapists.

SardineQueen · 09/02/2015 19:42

Man says men should not be criminalised for raping incapacitated women.

I mean he sat down and wrote that.

And he's a top lawyer type person.

Jesus.

House and Lady that is probably not a wise comment on a public forum.

I'm surprised there's not been a complaint to the Bar Council- but possibly he's not practising. Is anyone here a member of the English Bar?

LadyBlaBlah · 09/02/2015 23:24

It's hard not to come to that conclusion.

If I hear anyone defending paedophiles, I tend to assume paedophile.

If I hear someone defending being racist, I tend to think they are racist.

Ergo, If I hear someone defending rapists, I tend to think rapist.

These are the red flags we are warned about.

Obviously it's just an indicator of their values but yeah, I wouldn't be drinking alcohol alone with this guy that's for sure.

StillLostAtTheStation · 10/02/2015 00:41

I was Googling this to see if there have been representations to the Bar Council.

The link to The Mail came up first and I've been busy red arrowing and green arrowing comments. It's not all bad news on the comments front, there were a fair few who get it.

However I do want to share this one with you as its stupidity particularly stood out.

"If you leave your house or car unlocked and a theft occurs the authorities hold you culpable. But if a woman leads a man on and then suddenly changes her mind then she's as innocent as the driven snow. Strange."

It's only 2 sentences and 39 words but it's quite breathtaking how many inaccuracies he's managed to fit in.

StillLostAtTheStation · 10/02/2015 00:52

From The Mirror. Not helpful. As far as I was aware the legal professional bodies can and do comment and censure behaviour which brings the profession in to disrepute.

"A Bar Standards Board spokesman refused to comment on Mr Osborne’s remarks.

He said: “The BSB does not comment on individual cases.”

The BSB’s barrister’s register shows Mr Osborne is a registered barrister with a valid practising certificate."

Well it IS the next logical step from this stance....that rape doesn't exist at all
