Have you heard about David Osborne's blog?

LillyEvans · 07/02/2015 21:58

David is a barrister who cares deeply for "red blooded males" and the blog that's made the news is called "She's gagging for it".

You can probably guess what it's about. He also manages to throw in a bit about why he thinks the title Ms is insulting.

It looks like he has a few other interesting posts on there too.Hmm

David Osborne is, for example, a cockwomble.

Hi David, bet you're reading

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2015 22:15

yes I saw it on twitter

he is speaking on behalf of red blooded males out on the rut

shameful we still have people with opinions like this working in our courts who obviously have an agenda

LillyEvans · 07/02/2015 22:19

On the rut... He has a lovely turn of phrase and he is indeed a cockwomble.

I thought it was a parody blog when I first read the story but no it's a real barrister!

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2015 22:19

oops pressed post too soon

an agenda to keep women in a place where we can not have equality and are not seen as having the intelligence to decide what happens to our own bodies, to not be able to decide for ourselves when we have been sexually assaulted/raped

VikingVolva · 07/02/2015 22:22

There has already been one thread deleted from MN about this.

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2015 22:26

why was it deleted ?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/02/2015 22:26

It's a shame for the legal profession that there is a barrister, of some years standing, who knows so very very little about the law.

Maybe he should retire to his club and slowly moulder into obscurity.

LillyEvans · 07/02/2015 22:35

Freudians - I would guess threads about him ( including this one) might be removed because of libel laws.

OP posts:
VikingVolva · 07/02/2015 22:37

Deletion message:

Message from MNHQ: We have a sneaking suspicion this thread was intended to be inflammatory...

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2015 22:39

what we can not pass comment on what we think of him and his remarks

Hmm
YaTalkinToMe · 07/02/2015 22:42

I think in the other one, the OP said they agreed with it.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/02/2015 22:43

Then the OP of the other one could well be, in my not at all humble opinion, a bit of a git.

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2015 22:44

oh I see

sadly many people do agree :(

VikingVolva · 07/02/2015 22:45

It seems to be a position that, if the victim is drunk, then the action can't be a crime.

So can I steal with impunity from drunk men?

YaTalkinToMe · 07/02/2015 22:46

I don't even want to click and read it, I would hate for him to see the traffic and think its being read in agreement.

treaclesoda · 07/02/2015 22:47

Is he saying that women shouldn't be allowed on juries? Confused

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 07/02/2015 22:48

I felt a bit queasy reading it to be honest.

Finding a woman who's too drunk to protest loudly, and sticking your cock in her? Yeah. Total winner. Red-blooded male. Modern day St George. Hmm

PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/02/2015 22:50

If you follow leStewpot on Twitter, she has a clean link to it on her feed.

LillyEvans · 07/02/2015 22:52

I'm still not fully convinced that his blog isn't a parody.

You're right treacle, it looks like he is saying that.

OP posts:
PuffinsAreFictitious · 07/02/2015 22:54

He's also racist and ablist. Quel surpris!

meandjulio · 07/02/2015 22:55

He argues very poorly on all of the three issues he puts into that blog post. And he doesn't appear to proof-read. Very odd for a barrister.

I thought one of his points might actually have some merit - about changing the approach to rape prosecutions - so I read what the Director of Public Prosecutions wrote about it and I now think his statements are just as hollow as the rest of the stuff he has written.

I have come to think that the blog is probably a Private Eye production. Except that I think Private Eye sub-editors are better than that.

Do you know, this has put a smile on my face. Imagine, I could be married to that man. And I'm not! Yippee, as he puts on his blog when he is looking forward to his next viewing of Page 3.

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 07/02/2015 22:56

ta for that, Puffins. it's vom worthy prose, for sure.

YaTalkinToMe · 07/02/2015 22:59

Thanks puffins, I have never read so much hate in one place at one time, just when you think it cant possibly go on he does.

PetulaGordino · 07/02/2015 23:32

"red blooded males out on the rut"

His clients, one assumes?

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 08/02/2015 00:16

Don't stags seeking to rut often fight to the death? Is that A OK with him too, if his male clients murder each other?
