I literally CBA to discuss the Sun's women hating antics but directly tweeting nude photos to people who had been involved in the P3 campaigning.
Surely, that can't be allowed??

Fayyive, the original tweet had bare breasts. It's been cropped since.

In some ways, the sun have totally laid bare their absolute disregard for women with this whole episode.

I personally feel incredibly upset everytime I'm reminded how little men think of women.

Yes he did think it was funny.

He thought it was funny to tweet topless pictures of women to people who have said that they do not agree with page 3.

hahhahahahahaha

Housewhere

I agree. Teachers, priests have always included s few bad eggs who would abuse.

But times change. Today teachers are trained. Safeguarding is a buzz word. Betrayal of trust is something teachers are given lectures on. It is not 1954.
And yet. And yet. Page 3 undermines all the lectures on betrayal of trust and safeguarding. Because Page 3 telegraphs that all women are sexual beings who take pride and pleasure in being objectified by men.

Staggering. That's their pr man?!

My friend who works at the sun says they had/have no idea what's going on at all.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 22/01/2015 22:38

He's now deleted both tweets.

So, not only about the shittiest PR person in the history of PR, but also a big fat coward.

The only people who tweeted him to tell him what a jerk he was being were MEN!

Partly because he's blocked all the women who would have pointed and laughed at him, but also because please god this stunt by his present employer has turned even men against Pg3. Apart from the Neanderthal mouth breathing type, who have been merrily tweeting everyone in the world to call them ugly, jealous cunts.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 22/01/2015 23:20

Interesting.

@notthatsharpe is pretty funny though - although almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

Ev1lEdna · 23/01/2015 11:13

His idiotic harassment reminds me of being chased around a school yard by boys brandishing the Sun's page 3 trying to get us girls to kiss it. His blatant misogyny only proves what we already knew; this kind of image has been used to put women in their (decorative) place for a while. It isn't all that harmless when it is being used to harass women. Only an ignorant moron would act in a way that proves his opponent's point so neatly. Sharp as cotton wool.

LadyBlaBlah · 23/01/2015 11:41

Oh wait, stop the press, he has issued an "apology"

Anyone feeling sorry for him? Biscuit

I wonder what would happen if everyone who has been as horrified as I have been at The Sun's actions went ahead and bought a single share of News Corp and acted in concert to get rid of Murdoch?

I have to disclaimer and mention I have no idea how shares work, and 60-70% of shares have no voting rights (presumably because you need a certain percentage to have a say), but if enough were transferred temporarily to a feminist group surely something could be done?

Point is 50% of the world is female, and that is a staggering amount of power when you stop to think about it. Put in that context the billions of dollars that News Corp is worth it's actually quite tiny next to that.

Wow, where to start with that "apology"...

He mentions Lazarus and Icarus to try to sound intelligent (but clearly isn't), doesn't get it at all, uses excuses abusers use, and thinks we just need to lay off him now. Oh dear.

He mentions he has been called a cockwomble - do you reckon he's seen one of the threads on here?

I know where Nick Ferrari lives

DuelingFanjo · 23/01/2015 15:44

is 'but I received a death threat' now the get-out clause for every misogynistic institution in the land?

CrispyFern · 23/01/2015 16:09

Death threats? I wonder how many men have been killed by angry feminist women, on behalf of the feminist cause, through history.

LadyBlaBlah · 23/01/2015 16:47

I don't know of any murder of a man that has been linked to a feminist cause

Mobilising the power is the hard bit, Dervel, I agree

It may just be something simple like shaming people who gorp at the Sun, rather than being shamed ourselves for being around it, taking pictures of the white van nobheads who read it and posting it on a "Keep away from these Men" type site.

Women's voices have been silenced so long. I get incredible pleasure from standing up to men these days. They've never ever bitten back either - they just aren't used to it and always seem a bit shocked.

I have said to men "it is of no concern how nice my eyes are", I give men the V's when they beep at me on the street, I say "please do not invade my space, I am having a drink with my friends", I say "what exactly do you want?" when they stare at me.

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 23/01/2015 18:37

Totally agree with edna and house.

It's what happens all the time.

Man/boy does something sexist at woman/girl (shouting "get your tits out" at her on the street would be a relevant one here)

Man/boy gets shown he has gone a bit far this time - whether by the object of harrassment or by a 3rd party

Man/boy responds that he was "only joking" in one way or another. Depending on the "importance" of the person who calls him out it will be framed differently. If it's the object of the harrassment (who turns round and tells him to fuck off / bursts into tears / says they are going to report him etc) it's "fucking hell can't you take a joke love" and if it's a more "important" person who calls him out it will be "boo hoo poor me I was only trying to have a bit of fun and now it's all gone wrong".

Honestly all women and girls have seen both his original behaviour and his subsequent non apology loads of times. He is an unmitigated wanker and a sexist pratt.
