bbc 3 programme on prostitution

I'm watching this now- about 10 mins in and I'm already appalled (why am I surprised?)- is anyone else watching?

there were some sections that came close to glamourising- it dwelt a lot on a woman who was making ££££ through on line sex work as well as actual prostitution- at the end she admitted that this impacted her personal life significantly 'but now, I want the money more'
there was a section on street prostitution, that was clear about the dangers - but they said this constituted only 10% of prostitution (? is that right)
Tbh, the most shocking bits were what the young men were saying. Will be interested to see what others think

Major omission was the issue of trafficking. :(

I watched it tonight and it was certainly an eye opener.

I think the webcam girl was clearly making a lot of money but maybe she was the exception as the stories of the other women working the streets painted a very different picture.

I also just wonder how some of the young men will every be able to have healthy physical relationships with women as their expectations will be out of touch with reality.

they did mention trafficking briefly when they did the 'what's legal' quiz. I would really like to know if street prostitution really is 10% of all prostitution (or is it 10% of all sex work- including web cam or pole dancing or whatever)
One of the young women commented that she was in favour of women doing what they wanted with their bodies. I thought that was a missed opportunity really to unpack that thought, which seems to underlie this permissive attitude towards prostitution- that it's a fair exchange between consenting adults.

The 10% has probably come from American Policing Policy figures which estimates between 10% and 20% is street work but it dates back to 2006 (here). Given the access to internet and mobiles you would expect the detectable street work to be very low.
