Here is a link to a comparison between women's and men's halloween costumes. Confused

Personally I am too old for this shit but the last time I was out in town on halloween I was Shock at the difference.

I hate that. Literally if you go on google images and type in "girls (whatever kind of) cotume" at least half of the picture will be the "sexy" version of whatever it is supposed to be.

Men's costumes funny enough just look like what they are supposed to be Confused

Size is an issue too. A costume for sizes 8-14 involves a dress cut on the upper thigh. As soon as you hit size 18 the dress suddenly becomes ankle length.

Agree, it's all "sexy" for a woman's Halloween outfit

Hmm

Mitchy1nge · 22/10/2014 17:36

I like sexy late stage syphilis, and now comes with a bonus! £55 for your GP when she recognises that you are dementing from it

Coffeeinapapercup · 22/10/2014 17:53

Two thoughts

Are feminists not allowed to look sexy

What's to stop a woman wearing the costumes on the right

Mitchy1nge · 22/10/2014 18:15

feminists are probably hoping for some equivalence between standards of sexiness when it comes to both men and women

am in favour of doubling THAT problem, more lightly oiled male flesh in teeny tiny outfits please

I'm with mitchy on this one.

What's sauce for the goose and all that.

If we can't do away with "male costume = looks like what it is and plenty of coverage" vs "female costume = nothing like what it is just a pair of tiny pants and I know thigh-high boots" then let's get some uncovered male flesh out.

Tarzan, Rambo and "generic hot bloke with some kind of halloweenish mask and not much else" are the things I think should be investigated.

SevenZarkSeven · 22/10/2014 20:44

lol @ massive vagina costume Grin

And her from flight of the conchords a double whammy!

UnwittingAccomplice · 22/10/2014 20:54

October is COLD in the northern hemisphere, so the female costumes are also guaranteed to be uncomfortable...

I'm not sure I want men to share in the semi-nudity thing though. They're far too self-confident about their bodies for that - it will be all beer bellies and moobs, not rippling abs I suspect.

ClaudetteWyms · 22/10/2014 21:26

It's not just the costumes. I have just seen a flyer for a Halloween event with prizes for "scariest male" and "most delectable female".

So I guess my zombie outfit is out then?!

SevenZarkSeven · 22/10/2014 21:45

OMFG claudette

  • like poster upthread it gets on my nerves that when I put "girls fancy dress costume" or similar into amazon I get loads of skimpy outfits mixed in with the ones that are suitable for a girl to wear.
RobinSparkles · 22/10/2014 21:58

The costumes for little girls are always "pretty" as well. It's always a pretty, sparkly witches costume or a pretty, sparkly cat or devil etc, whereas the ones that are labled "for boys" are actually scary.

I'm quite pleased that my DDs have chosen to be a Werewolf (DD1) and Dracula (DD2) this year. The costumes that we got have "boys" on the label though.
